Callie Tan:
Technically speaking, there are 6 periods of PE, not including Mass PE. Here's a breakdown of the PE periods:
So total they will have 7 periods of PE lessons in a week?? Quite a lot hor?? Wht is PE3?
2 periods of PE
4 periods of PE3
PE3 (known as PE cube) is a new programme implemented at the beginning of this year. It incorporates non-academic activities during curriculum time for character building and holistic education. With the introduction of PE3, CCA is now no longer compulsory for MCS, even for the upper primary gals. However, gals who show talent & potential for specialised CCA will be identified and selected for the respective CCA.
For PE3, the gals are exposed to sports & games, performing arts, project work, ICT skills, Values Education and Life skills. A very comprehensive and fun programme. A survey done showed the gals really had a great time during PE3.
P1 gets an opportunity to participate in netball, sports Chanbarra, fencing, tennis, gymnastics, social etiquette, communication skills and safety awareness. The activities are rotated around each term for different classes.
I think it's an excellent programme. The gals are exposed to various games and sports that they normally do not get to try out.
The 3 periods for Mass PE are for activities for the P1 & P2 on Wednesday from 12.30-2pm as it's contact time (meeting) for the teachers. It may seem like there are many periods of PE & PE3 but the sch has actually extended the sch curriculum hours by 2 hours/week so that the curriculum hours for the core subjects will not be compromised.

lvkt:
Hi lvkt,hi preciousmoments,
she'll be in Garnet House, but i do not know what all the houses mean? for sports? and i just know that her house T-shirt is RED in color only, haha..
The house colours represent 5 different houses for sports & competitions such as Sports Day. The gals will also form groups with classmates of the same house colour for PE & PE3.lvkt:
1) The gals will need to wear PE attire for 3 days and the pinafore for 2 days/week. So, 2 sets of each will be sufficient.dear all,
can i check with you the below?
1.) how many set of uniforms should we order? 2 sets, is it enough?
2.) is there a school logo on the socks or just plain white socks? (coz i bought many socks for DD already, not sure if i still need to buy from united uniforms?)
3.) anyone knows any school bus service i should approach to go around balestier road? so many bus services and not quite sure which one is for my area, sigh..
thank you.
2) You can wear any white socks, with or without the sch logo. No ankle socks allowed, if not the prefects will book you..
3) Sorry, don't know about sch bus service. Callie Tan mentioned the sch bus vendors will be at sch during Orientation so maybe you can check it out then. -
