You get the answer from Mdm Lee during the P1 oridentation that totally no exam? Perhaps maybe have to wait for the new Principal Mrs Wong Siew Shan to arrive on 15 Dec where we would have better answer.
Yes, Mdm Lee announced there would be no exams for P2s next year, and it was confirmed by HOD MT.
Of course, things may change when the new principal arrives. However, when Mdm Lee announced that there wouldn't be exams for P1s and P2s next year, she added she had \"no choice\". It wasn't what she wanted. Hence, I doubt the new principal will change this. -

This is really weird. If they had intended not to have exams for the P2's in 2011, then they shouldnt have subjected them to P1 exams this year. It's like they take exams for 1 year and none the next. Cannot understand the rationale behind this :?
I think the school had wanted to have exams for P2, at least, next year if they had not receive directives from people up there. -

I suppose so because the questions they asked are probably way above average so that they can suss out those with good abilities. So one probably need to train the kids in order to excel.I know. But, I thought GEP is to test whether a child is gifted or not. Hence, is there a point preparing them? :scratchhead:
I also know that there are many centres propagating their success rate in getting their students into GEP after attending their programs. However, I am skeptical whether a child who gets into GEP through such method will be able to manage his/her studies when he is in the program.
Of course, this is just my personal opinion.
Thomas Edison said, 'Genius is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration'
The kid themselves must have some 'liao' otherwise no matter how you train them also cannot

1 year have exam & the next year do not have is not really good. I guess most parents do not want to receive the \"warning bomb\" when the child is in P3 like 0/100.
Perhaps we shall let the new Principal decides some action plan when she is here. -

Maybe we should come together and submit a petition to the new principal? :scratchhead:
Just thinking out loud.

I got the information from my DD, so below information is just as reference.
Hi ctc61tctct61t:
 what is MT?
My DD only go for High Chinese when she is P3. I did not hear that they got divide in Chinese in P2.
So after P2 the school would normally stream with 2 or 3 top classes? Meaning M, A2 & S. These classes would have the chance to expose to Higher Chinese? How to qualify for HMT? Looking at MT result at the end of P2 or overall result?
She said that, they still have 3 good class in P3 (3M, 3A2 and 3A1), these 3 classes will go for MT next year. -

Next year, P3, I think I should ask for her teacher, my thinking is always wrong...hehe...titank:

Since the school will not have exam for P2s next year, it may be difficult to stream the students.
Although there won't be exam for P2s, Mdm Lee mentioned there would be a lot of \"exercises\" (aka tests). -

During orientation the Principal mentioned that the \"No Exam\" rule was island wide. So I wonder if the new Principal can do anything about it.famangelina31:

But she did mention that the students will have \"Excercises\" which maybe be just as good to prepare the students for P3 exam.
But they did get the new P1 students to do some kind of test/quiz/assessment/excercise (whatever they call it now) during the orientation on saturday. I wonder how they would use the result because the students are already split into classes. Any idea? Did they do it last year?
