2010 PSLE Discussion

JonC:
i AM NOT confusing the P6 parents,Augmum:
... be prepared for an increase in COP for the 7 newly selected IP schools.
Why new IP will increase leh?
For next 2 year Sec 1 Students, they are not qualify for IP yet what, even if they are in the 7 schools.
For VS, only 2011 P6 students will be IP and the rest of the 6 schools will 2012 P6 students.
Don't confused the 2010 P6 parents into thinking getting into the 7 new IP school means no need to take 'O' Levels.
All 2010 P6 Parents, please note.
i just merely bring out the point of preparedness for very likely increase of COP,
esp pertaining to VS (since forummer Octopusmum quoted VS as an example).
i did not say \"no need to take \"O\" levels\".
moreover, getting into the newly listed IP schools also doesn't gurantee \"no need to take \"O\" levels.
Don’t be so myopic, look beyond that…….
No doubt the newly appointed IP schools will not commence its IP programme on 2011,
but students of VS and also Cedar Girls would have an opportunity to be selected to do IP in Sec3
shd they do well in Sec1 and/or Sec2 and then proceed to VJC.
If u don’t apply in 2011 (sec 1) how would u be selected in the later years to do IP ??? (unless the pupil is successful via DSA in sec 2).
Extracted from SJI website, ( 1 of the 7 newly selected IP school) it also states that
“because SJI will have both IP track and “O” levels track, there will be opportunities for late bloomers in “O” levels track to join the IP track.”
If given a choice of 2 schools (having the same COP as of last year),
1 which has no IP track and 1 with both “O” levels and IP track, which will be the preferred choice???
If there’re more pupils opting for that particular school, isn’t it obvious that the COP of that particular school be up, No ???
Btw, VS is NOT the only school for 2011 P6 pupils, u have missed out Cedar Girls. -

Nebbermind:
sometimes bully them into joining the gangs, or they join gangs to avoid being bullied by others (gang or non gang).
Read this yesterday, so sad, how to prevent itMdmKS:
gangsters not all abt fighting...they also need 'funding' which they are get more easily from rich 'kwai kwai' kids in top schools

Are you referring to gangsters studying in top school themselve and asking money from his fellow schoolmate in the same school?

About IP, I think your theory is not correct.
This is the explanation from DS school's principal.
For these 7 new IP schools the first patch of IP students will only graduate from 'A' Level in 2017 (for VS) and 2018 for the rest, which means when they Sec 4 is 2015 (for VS) and 2016 for the rest, which means they are the P6 in 2011 (to go VS) and P6 2012 for the rest.
WHICH MEANS P6 2010 NOT AFFECTED
So do not confuse the parents here about the 7 IP schools and make the COP of these 7 IP schools higher (possible) and maybe even higher than RI and HCI (unlikely).
If you insists, please call up MOE to check. -

to be able to make the COP of the new IP schools higher and even higher than RI and HCI.....wow....
Secondly, no need to call MOE to check, what i am trying to say (abt VS) is clearly stated in MOE website under ANNEX B,
u can take a look for yourself under VS and Cedar girls.
(anyway, my posting was orginally tagetted at VS)
