All About Full-Time Maids

Hi moonee
Did you check with the maid agency whether they book the maid on budget air? I think they charge me $50 or less for transport to airport. Overall I paid less than $250 for flight and transport to Indo.
My previous maid agency told me if the maid doesn't transfer out eg. within 1mth, we only have to pay the levy but not the airfare. Anything more than that, it will be their responsibility. I think that's how a good maid agency work. At least they don't fleece the maid and employer. :celebrate:moonee:
Hi Thanks all for ur response, my agent quoted 480 dollars and thats not including the transport etc... actually they want to transfer her for the third time n make more bucks out of her despite knowing her bad work and attitude. Shes been here for 9 months n Im here 2nd home.
I guess in the event they dnt transfer her they may make me bear for her fare back .
All the agents i encounter will try to make the employers pay for the airfare if they dnt get to transfer the maid. Thats not fair! -

My mum's new maid likes to hum & sing too.I met the new maid for the first time - seems ok, quite positive vibes although some mistakes were made. Would like to check with other employers of Myanmar maids, is it a common thing for the maid to be singing/humming as she do things? I was having my dinner and she was busying around the house, humming and singing.
Sorry, not quite used to the sound. Just a bit wondering if she's ok up there.
I think it's fine cos it's so boring for her (no one at home to talk to)?
Anyway, I bought her a radio to place in the kitchen. -

Thanks. I think we all need time to adjust.

In view of this pro-maid country (employers' interest were not protected), there's a new website set up for maid's employers to gather and support each other.

My ex-maid has nearly 6 years experience in Singapore and she sends boxes of old clothes that we gave her by sea to Philippines. Apparently quite cheap and they come to the house to collect. Since your maid sooo experienced, I think she can find out either from agent or other maids.
KSmom8:
If I remember correctly, if you agree to the transfer, you have to sign the form which is to MOM so that they can do the paperwork for transfer. I paid salary prorated up to and including the day I sent her back to agent. Not sure about the levy amount for transfer, I thought that only need to pay up till day that maid is transferred to new employer. Checked my bank account deduction, don't think I paid extra 3 weeks levy but difficult to calculate for sure cos I had to pay 2 maids' levies due to overlapping period.
Haha...If you cant find link, I will try harder to find. It's a PDF file and the information is in table format.
I went Singpost checked, cost about $90 for 30kg and takes 2mths to reach. If go normal (air) about $120. When mine heard got to pay herself, she dropped idea of sending. Believe she'll drag all back home thus, I'm worry she'll exceed baggage limit of 20kg. Did tell her no point spending $ to send old clothes. $90 can buy lots of new clothings.chatelaine:
Hi mummymaid
I was glad that my maid agency is good and does not insist us to do a transfer. Sending the maid home, they leave to us to make a choice. Unlike some agency that I heard, they want to earn money from the maid by doing a transfer.hquek:

She recommended I try hiring a U grad Myr since PHL and INDO has a hugh community here .... lots of people tell maids how to manage their bosses. Hope MYR, due to communication problem, would spend lesser time chit-chatting. -

Thanks mummymaid. I can't recall what her qualifications are, only know she has had 2 years experience in India (was surprised to find out). A bit of communication problem becos her english not good, and our myamese non-existent. otherwise, I think she's ok. My parents are very pleased that they can now add pork in all their dishes - a definite plus!

True, but they are too smart for me. I don't want to have to deal with their issues. thus far, have not looked to that country. The current one is from Myanmar.

Honestly, I don't think I can live up to their expectations - chitter chatter, thinking they are always so high and mighty. if come to the day I need to hire from Philippines, I rather bite the bullet and engage a local cleaning agency.
