Mapping - tool for creative writing?
-
Hi.
It's actually too early for me to tell yet. I am speaking based on a p1's standard
With the main words mapped out in the branches, he was able to put in the punctuations, grammars, connectors, etc. (...but with mistakes at times though...) and create a complete story out of it. The method helps him to create a smooth flow with a proper start and end. Thus I am just curious if this is the method that most centres deploy and the effectiveness. -
Hi! Based on what japhys described, it sounds like general mindmapping to me. So I guess what you’re paying for is the skill of the instructor because some people can’t learn from a manual or instruction booklet, and/or they can’t apply mindmaps to topics like creative writing; they need someone to teach them, show them examples, guide them and motivate them.
I think for mindmap templates, you can find lots of free ones on the inetrnet. If I get some time later, I’ll do a search. Or if you are familiar with them, you can create your own too. -
Hi japhys,
Thanks for your sharing. -
Hi! While searching, I did find a few links for free mindmap creation software but I don't if they are user-friendly because I prefer to draw my own by hand. The most basic ones are on this page: http://www.mymindmap.net/Mind_Map_Templates.html
The blank templates are for more \"freestyle\" mindmaps and the grid ones are for those who like their mindmaps to look very balanced and neat, I guess.
I used to use mindmapping a lot for work but ever since I changed my job, I've yet to use one. -
Hi. Yup, I agree that we are paying for the guidance of the trainer. Mind mapping books are easily available. Tony Buzan’s Mind Mapping for Kids is a fantastic guide. However not every child is able to appreciate it fully without a personalised illustration from the adult. As a parent I may be able to instil a little interest. A trainer, professionally trained, would be able to deliver it in the right way.

Tks schellen . I am also struggling to teach my girl on mind mapping. She is P2.
