Hey I got 261+2 for my PSLE and I'm planning whether to go to RI or DHS, can somebody give me advice on where I should go? Yr advice will b greatly appreciated as my previous posts were all left unanswered thx
Your +2 does not work for RI.
Last year RI COP was 262, so it is high risk for you.
DHS COP was 260, you have a better chance since it is SAP school, then your score will be 263. -

Tks 4 ur advice. My daughter is afraid that the students there might be rather snobbish. Is it true?
I recommend u to go RGSvanthevehicle1998:
RGS or NYGH?
My daughter scored 262 + 3 and I am wondering does she stand a good chance to enter RGS or NYGH? If she does, should her 1st choice be RGS or NYGH? Please advise. Tks:D
yeah, some ppl there are snobbish, but if she get in to raffles, she can find job easily when she got in, and there are variety of CCAs. But bear this in mind that if u get in raffles, the pressure of ur daughter will be high. so if she wants to go, Go for it!

Very true ... But, if like what everyone here is suggesting, if this year's COP for schools across the board drops, then RI may well accept 261 or 260?DC99:

Since DC99 is only 1 point off last year's cutoff for RI, i think it's worth trying (if RI is indeed your \"dream school\" DC99) -
Dear All
Been wanting to ask a burning question:
anyone knows what is the top score of St Stephen's this year? Thanks
Wow they \"dropped\" 5 points compared to last year (268).
ps: I actually asked u over the SSS thread initially (ignore that since u've already answered here) thanks again.... Hope your son did well :)
maisy
I've also posted an answer in the SSS thread
My DS did ok ... nothing like some of the amazing scores I am seeing here, but we are very proud of him nonetheless.
Thanks khk!
pls note that MGS is an independent school. Though there s no exam in st nick for the sec 1, theres common test practically every week plus assignments, all these are taken into account and will be shown in the report book every term.khk:
We are considering the following schools for our dd,
1. Cedar
2. MGS
3. CHIJ St Nicholas
4. Crescent
Her aggregate should be able to get in to the above schools (we hope!)
We're inclined to Cedar, but also thinking whether MGS or CHIJ St Nic is a better school. We heard that there's no exams in Sec 1 in St Nic, and tests are not graded as well, is that true?
Any comments on the above schools are most welcome! Thanks!
Cedar vs MGS, which should be our first choice??
CEDAR

ok RI COP 2009 PSLE was 259 and DHS COP 2009 PSLE was 258. Still, your chances better at DHS due to the +2. -

RGS highly competitive. NYGH nurturing. No good or bad, depends which one makes your child tick. -
stetan:
HCJC produced the most President Scholars is because it is one of the olderest JC around as compared to RJC which only started in 1982.
For the past 20-30 years, The Chinese High School and Nanyang Girls High School hardly produced more than 5 president scholars (total) but HCJC managed to produce one of the highest number of president scholars among all JCs. You go and figure where the students came from? It is not hard to think that at least a few came from schools like RGS and RI.WeiHan:
What's your definition of many?
maybe 20 out of the entire cohort of 400 ?
you are trying to create an impression of a mass migration ...
You were right that HCJC was ranked the top JCs for many years, until RJC came about and it become top till IP started.
For me, if there are 30-50 students, and they happened to be outstanding, it is sufficient to give an impression of \"many\".
You need to compare apples to apples. If you add up the number of years that RJC was RI Pre-U (predecessor), you would have realise that RJC/RI would be 1st lah.
The fact that there wasn't 30-50 as you claim...even that is not consider many out of a cohort of 400 for RI and 400 for RGS =800.
who you trying to kid ?
HCJC being one of the oldest JC can't alone account for the fact that it produced the most president scholars. There must be quite alot of good students from other good secondary schools (such as RI and RGS) to account for it. As I have said, TCHS and NYGS don't produced more than 5 for the last 20-30 years. The other dozens that HCJC have produced must come from other secondary schools...evrybody can go and figure which other secondary schools can produce so many president scholars.
