Hi semaj

You have given a very good stat. Many don't realise. It is the culture of the school. Somehow, RJ students can peak when the time comes. Many of them fooled around throughout JC but will still get straight As in A level.

Ya one more observation. Many top humanity students from RGS will go to HCI instead of RI in JC.
2 things that are constant in the R-spirited school until today:
1. Play n fool around all yr but still excel
2. The stronger cohort is always the science stream. 4 points from 'o' levels can get into arts but never science stream in RJ.

HCJC produced the most President Scholars is because it is one of the olderest JC around as compared to RJC which only started in 1982.

You need to compare apples to apples. If you add up the number of years that RJC was RI Pre-U (predecessor), you would have realise that RJC/RI would be 1st lah.

The fact that there wasn't 30-50 as you claim...even that is not consider many out of a cohort of 400 for RI and 400 for RGS =800.

who you trying to kid ?

HCJC being one of the oldest JC can't alone account for the fact that it produced the most president scholars. There must be quite alot of good students from other good secondary schools (such as RI and RGS) to account for it. As I have said, TCHS and NYGS don't produced more than 5 for the last 20-30 years. The other dozens that HCJC have produced must come from other secondary schools...evrybody can go and figure which other secondary schools can produce so many president scholars.

Your argument is beginning to sound like a joke.

How many president scholars are there in a year ?

You can count on your figures, It is an average of only 5 a year.

So you are basing that to say \"many\" people from Ri/RGS goes to HCJC ?

Do you realise how ridiculous your claims are ?
I think that Hwa Chong became top because before the IP, lots of people wanted to go there. So a lot og RGS girls especillay went to Hwa Chong instead of RJC. I know that coz my niece is one RGS girl who defected to Hwa Chong along with a whole bunch of friends. But with the IP, the feed from RGS, RI and now RV and Dunman and soon, even Cedar,St Nich , SCGS will not go to Hwa Chong. But RJC will have thier feeder schools of RI and RGS. So inevitably, RJC will top.

Dear all, advise please. My child psle result is 223. So far this is what we have on the list:

Chung Cheng (Yishun) cop: 230, mean: 235, median: 233
Gan Eng Seng, cop: 222, mean: 228, median: 227
Mayflower, cop: 222, mean: 225, median: 225
Hua Yi, cop: 221, mean: 225, median: 225
Bowen, cop: 221, mean: 226, median: 225
Peirce, cop: 208, mean: 213, median: 212

Her cca is international dance and she is from River Valley Primary. Is the list too aggressive or good strategy. Worst outcome we are hoping she is going to Gan Eng Seng.

Advise please, pretty please to this confused mother-daughter.

Hi

Ds scored 255 +2. Any views on the following will be appreciated:

First choice: hci
Second choice: njc
Third choice: river valley

Would like to know, will he be able to get into rv if rejected by first 2 choices ?

Tks

Help !

I am lost ! indeed need some help from you.
My girl scored 204 in her PSLE and somehow eligable to enroll into Express steam. As you know, this range of scoring is the \"sandwich\" type which not many good school for selection.
Can I enroll her into NA stream instead ?
I am staying at Seng Kang, which school should I pick if I have to enroll her into express stream ?
please advice... appreciate it. :?

DS's friends are all persuading him to go there .... they all got some points above the COP of last year, and DS score is quite a number of points above the median....so is likely to put in the form......sigh ! still undecided lah ......

Don't mind if I ask..your ds got dsa to any school?

It means last year the average T-score of NYGH students is lower than RGS, right?

School\t 2009-S1 \t 2010-S1
Hwa Chong \t259-3=256 \t257-3=254
Nanyang Girls' \t263-3=260 \t263-3=260
Raffles Girls' \t263 \t260
Raffles Institution \t262 \t259

Thus RI and RGS average T-score should be higher than HCI and NYGH.

Yes agreed. Base on that NJC average T-score is higher than HCI and DHS too.

can't agree all. Not everybody enter HCI score 3 in HMT, my son got 2 and his friend not taken HMT. I think average HMT added is about 1.5 to HCI student.

Yes, if rejected by first 2 choices.
RV COP unlikely to go beyond 257.

Hi, juz went to look at the forum on TKSS & feel so relief! OK, set for TKSS & hope their COP do not go up too many points. 🙏

That's the beauty about this Forum. Useful info and advice at every corner! Someone calls it a BIG FOREST, just have to know which TREE to climb for the right info! :celebrate: :lovesite:

25hourmaid, oh dear, DS is so flicker minded! One moment said wanted to try for CCHM but gave up after realized is a SAP as he's pretty weak in Chinese. Then after lunch, said afraid it may be too competitive in TKSS and is now thinking of Temasek as 1st choice! :stupid:
Need another piece of advice from you again, can i agree with him? :?:

Hi .... my girl exactly same score as yours ... stay in east also ...
likely SCGS, CGS, St Nich ....

my dd also 253 +2. Also stay in East. also deciding between SCGS and Cedar. DD afraid can not find friends in SCGS since classmates will mostly go to east side schools...any suggestions?

so we can make them friends ok ?? haha .. Actually still thinking over between SCGS and Cedar, think more of SCGS now ...
went to open house today at cedar and also SCGS. Surprise that SCGS though an independent school in which the girls have to pay a hefty fees of close to $300 per month is so run down. The classrooms' chairs and tables are all in a very sorry state. The parade square tiles are blackish and greenish in which the girls are expected to sit every morning for assembly. No offence to any SCGS current and old girls. That's just what I honestly feel as 1st impressions.
