How is anderson? I am eligible for 2B within 1km for St nic, but chances very low as 24 seats available only.

Am thinking of Anderson as past year history within 1km does not req balloting except dragon year.

      Any advise?

        jolee:

        - Anderson (<1 KM)
        - Mayflower (<1 KM)

Between the two school which would be a better choice in terms of school environment and academics ?...
They are both about the same in terms of academic performance, but Anderson is a much harder school to get in due to its popularity.

Anderson is not a bad choice... but it has also had balloting in the last 2 years. The take up rate up to Phase 2A2 this year, however, has dropped significantly, so I suspect it may have no balloting this year.

You are right. The take up for St Nics this year is crazy. 77% fully filled before Phase 2B even begins. Pretty much guaranteed balloting under 1km for both Phase 2B and 2C.

The take up rate this year for Anderson after 2 Phases is rather low compared to the past 2 years. You should be able to get a place in Anderson this year if you stay under 2km without much problems.

Anderson is a coed and a double session school. It is strong in sports and athletic programmes. Most people would consider Kuo Chuan Presbyterian to be the more balanced school.

KCP to be more balanced in what terms? I realised KCP also double session school with P1 & 2. I check with the school today and realised that Anderson last year PSLE score was quite ok at 275. My worry is priority if I failed for St nic under 2B I should be concentrating on getting a place in a \"ok\" school that require no balloting <1km from my house. Once secure, then I worry about logistic. At least, P2 can still transfer. Am I right?

Balanced as in good focus on academic, character development, and sports. It is a very well managed school.

Anyway, I agree that Anderson is a good \"2nd\" choice in your particular case. While you can do so, try not to change primary schools if your child is already doing well in the original school. It is very disruptive for the child, especially at that age.
