HI
guess my earlier got 'lost' along the way.. any advice from anyone?? Thanks!!MixedHerbs:
Hi, need some advice here. My DS got 241 (A* for MT), and we are thinking of the following choices:
1) SJI (COP 241)
2) Nan Hua (COP 242)
3 or 4) Bt Panjang Gov High (COP 241)
3 or 4) Fairfield Methodist Sec (COP 240)
5 or 6) Swiss Cottage (COP 234)
5 or 6) St Andrew Sec (COP 233)
Any advice?
How is Bt Panjang when compared to Fairfield Methodist?
Thanks much!!
Your preference isit SJI? cause if i were you, i will swap the 1st and 2nd? high chance you will get to SJI.Fairfield has affiliated JC whereas Bt Panjang doesnt have.
hi ksfaith: yep, preference is SJI over Nan Hua cos worried that there will be too much focus on MT in NH and DS not being able to cope. He did not take higher MT in primary school. Good point about the affiliated JC. Will most likely put Fairfield as 3rd choice. Thanks a lot for your input! -

Augmum:
that's what i am thinking and have posted on previous page for her
yes u should not miss NYGS with yr gradesssll:
What about Nanyang Girls' High School [IP]?
Augmum:
Thank you all for your suggestion.since u prefer yr DD to go yo a all girls' sch and she wants to try IP,
why not include NYGH as yr 2 nd choice
(though NYGH last yr COP is 263, with yr DD's score of 262 is worth a try)
and yr choice of NJC goes to 3rd,
in this way, even if she does not qualify for RGS or NYGH, she still have her NJC.
(must add....provided NJC COP does not exceed 260 this yr, but u have a buffer of 3 points to play about )
The reason why we did not include NYGH is because it did not seem to make any sense to put it as 2nd choice since the COP is higher and my DD is -1 point off last year's COP.
Does it make sense? :?: -
Hi all,
I am new to this forum but found it stunningly informative, especially with awesome contributors like 25hourmaid.
For a boy living in west with PSLE aggregate of 258, what school choices would you suggest? He is non-chinese. So no SAP schools please.
Thank you very much. -

If he want IP, then it is ACSI or SJI. I think he can even try RI. NJC tooHi all,

262 is above COP for RGS. I'm sure she'll be accepted for RGS. Congrats :celebrate:
What about Nanyang Girls' High School [IP]?NotKiasuEnough:
What do you think of following choice for 260 +2
1) RGS
2) NJC
3) St Nicholas
4) Cedar
5) Crescent
6) CHIJ TP
do u think the chances of RGS is very slim? Definitely prefer my Dd to go to a girls school but she wants to try the IP. -

Getting into RI with 266 - shouldn't be a problem. I think.
The lowest score last year was 259. you should get in no prob
Thankyou Advisepls and Pecalis
I am worried as the Mean is exactly 266... :?:
I can guarantee you'll get a place in RI. Stop worrying  -

Being a student myself, i feel that he should not limit yourself to schools in one zone of the country as there are many other areas and schools which this boy could qualify for.Hi all,

The elite schools in that area include the SAP school river valley(not an option) and a school for girls, MGS(also unthinkable)
I think it would be best for this boy to go to other schools in other areas of the country. (Just as long as it's not extremely far)
I would try ACS independent. It is not a SAP school. It is quite far though so you might want to consider other equally good schools instead -
Advisepls:
You can consider Commonwealth Secondary Sch. A friend's daughter is studying there and she is always singing praises about the sch. You can also try NUS high but a bit risky.

HiMy friend's son scored 232 living at Bukit timah area. She headache where to choose. His son learning lab teacher ask him to try SJI
1. SJI 241
2. Maris Stellar 232
3. CTSS 230
then clueless what to put for the last 3
Can help?
I cannot believe the learning lab teacher actually asked your friend's son to try SJI at 232 (knowing well that the cut off is 241 last year). Even with affiliation, the COP for SJI last year was 238 ! So, this is as good as \"throwing the first choice away\".
I would advise your friend's son to switch Maris Stella to first choice instead & forget SJI.
This does not guarantee a confirm slot in MS unless COP this year is still 232 or less for MS. If so, your friend's son stands a \"higher chance\" than others with the same score assuming the other candidates with 232 had put MS as second choice (ie for putting MS as 1st choice, he has comparative advantage over others with same score but had put MS as 2nd choice )
