..... Most important of all, she likes the sch so much. We spent almost 4 hrs at the open house, so you can see how much she likes the sch  What about your child?
I have very good opinion of RV. Many of their students after joining RJ goes on to be among the top. However, just a point to consider :
RV has gone IP and it is not easy to switch school at JC unless among top 20. Therefore, if she subsequently think of switching to HCI or RI, it might not be possible. So the choice now, can decide her JC. -
Which school is better between Dunman secondary sch and Temasek Secondary sch?
Dunman Sec is band 5 but COP 231 whereas Temasek Sec is band 3 but COP 230 which is lower by 1 point.
Why? :? :? :? -

Hi ahqueahque:
need some good advices.
my ds had fever during psle, with special consideration of 4 points, he has 232. goin to appeal for sst as he didnt manage to clear e 2nd around. now, we are struggling as to which schools to choose. seems like too risky to put sji as 1st choice, but we can only appeal if we put sji as 1st choice rite? our choices :-
1st choice - sji
2nd choice - maris stella / nan chiau
3rd choice - clementi town
4th choice - ?
5th choice - ?
6th choice - ?
we are staying at bt timah.
You seem to be in the same situation as Parentof3's friend. (or are you the friend he/she is talking about)?
My advice for your son is to forget SJI.
232 is 9 points away from last year's COP for SJI (241). Even with affiliation, SJI's COP last year was 238. Don't waste your 1st choice in this manner.
Your son can consider MS as his 1st choice instead since his Tscore meets last year COP for MS. This would be a more realistic approach. Hope this helps.
PS: Besides MS, there's also St Andrew's (233). In fact, St Andrew's would be a better choice than SJI (241). Do consider.
We did talk about St Andrew's but it's a bit too far. How about the last 3 choices? Any suggestions? -

St Margaret cop is 238 so too risky? Her mom n aunties are ex students of BPGH won't help?
Hihi Dan Limdanlim:
My daughter is from bukit panjang PS, her T score is 229
Can she try bukit panjang high even though the min t score is 241 cos her mom and aunties were alumni, possible to appeal?
Simialry can she try st margaret as 1st choice? She puts CHIJ St Joseph Convent min 226 as second choice, will she be penalized for not putting CHIJ as 1st choice?
Appeal got to base on the child talent or achievement. St Margaret's is a good choice. putting CHIJ as 2nd choice will not be penalised. these two are a wise choice. Sorry not to dampan your spirit, but BPGH is really way out.
We stay at bt batok, any other schools to recommend.? Her teacher recommend Kranji -

Yes, i attended the open house. i pick two school to go, RV and Nan Hua. I guess i am a practical person. Distance to me is impt. so RV is my 1st choice. Your daughter did very well. no wonder, ppl ard you. will against you choosing RV. But after all i think your daughter must like the school.[/quote]What is yr score? Gd luck
A lot of people feel that RV COP is not as high as other elite schs, some actually demanded/insisted tt I send my girl to NYGS. well, at the end of 6 yrs, its the same A level papers they are taking. Most important of all, she likes the sch so much. We spent almost 4 hrs at the open house, so you can see how much she likes the sch  What about your child?sall:

I'm v good at guessing hor? hahahaha
Anyway, isn't Maris Stella further for your son (compared to St Andrew's).
I'm not sure how your son will commute. MRT/Schoolbus or public bus? As I drive, I am not familiar with the latest MRT lines, so if there is those circle or nrth-east line that helps bring MS closer to your home, then that's fine.
I do not know what is the best advice for 4th-6th schools. I guess you can just choose schools nearest your home for 4th -6th choice. What's important in this S1 posting exercise is actually the 1st -3rd choice really; that's y it's very important to choose wisely in the 1st-3rd choice. IF I am allowed to speak freely, I know of many people who \"anyhow humtum 4th-6th\" (of course there is also a minority who anyhow humtum 1st-6th choice...hahaha... that's when MOE will simply assign a school nearest their home with a vacancy - doesn't matter if that school is not within their 6 choices )
So be very very careful with your 1st & 2nd choices especially. -

Thank you, wisedad! I am just an ordinary parent, sharing with others what I myself have gone through and experienced. Credit must also be given to some other parents like INNOVATE and noob who have also contributed significantly in this thread the last few days.Hi all,
I am new to this forum but found it stunningly informative, especially with awesome contributors like 25hourmaid.
For a boy living in west with PSLE aggregate of 258, what school choices would you suggest? He is non-chinese. So no SAP schools please.
Thank you very much.
Congrats on your son's good results. How about putting NJC as your first choice. He has such good results, but it is a pity SAPs schools are out for him.
Like someone suggested, ACSI is also a good choice, Bukit Panjang Govt High can be considered too. If you are willing to travel, I would list Catholic High and Victoria too.
These are just some of the suggestions that I can think of at the moment, will add more if I come across them before Wednesday.
