no no, to be super duper very2 kiasu, your count down ought to have started 12 months ago....that is what the principal said, the PSLE preparation starts in Pri 5, not Pri 6......better late than never .... lol

My boy just finished his 2010 PSLE. My girl is in P4 this year and P5 next year. From our experience, PSLE preparation starts in P5, though subjects in P3 and $ are covered.

it is OK to be kiasu. It is a stressfull world out there and the poor kids need all our help.

Yes, I would think so next year math paper is a hard one.So, must really train ds to think out of the box.Merely practising and doing the routine questions probably will survive the routine questions but not out of the box kind of prob sums.


Having said that, I still think our children should have a deserving holidays, and this period should only be a warm up period for them, race begins next year.

My boy had his PSLE in 2010, and all the papers were relatively easy.

As a result, PSLE 2010 top score dropped and the EESIS COP dropped. 2011 Sec School admission is expected to drop.

All these are due to the easy papers for 2010 PSLE.

having hard papers is not necessary is bad thing. if your child is very bright, it is only through hard papers that he can show his true potential.

Unfortunately, the hard paper is always MATH and not the language paper.

It does not matter whether the papers are easy or tough from year to year


The children’s ranking is among their peers in the same year. There is no comparison with different years.

Last year’s 270 is not the same as this year’s 270, as an example.


Just ensure consistent work from P4 onward, start gearing up for PSLE from P5 onward (start going through P3 & P4 stuff during P5…) and by the time P6 arrives, should be ready to do complete paper by mid year…pace it out, and it won’t stress out the kids

I think talking about it this way on this thread is not very relevant since we are mostly parents with students that have *finished* p5 and are doing psle in 2011 (title of the thread). We would appreciate sharing on what to do with just those 9 months left, not advice to make us regret not having started preparing in p3.

Yea I think those \"other\" parents who visit this thread would appreciate knowing what to do in the p6 year alone too, or they would be visiting the \"prepareing for PSLE\" thread, perhaps. And all of us would appreciate valuable sharing of parents like you who've gone thru it already so very successfully.

I think PSLE 2011 preparation should start early,at P5.

If your kid is P6 next year and preparation has not started,I suggest starting to read the P6 textbooks NOW for starters
