LOL.. yes, she's my friend...
Hi ahquemaisy:
need some good advices.
my ds had fever during psle, with special consideration of 4 points, he has 232. goin to appeal for sst as he didnt manage to clear e 2nd around. now, we are struggling as to which schools to choose. seems like too risky to put sji as 1st choice, but we can only appeal if we put sji as 1st choice rite? our choices :-
1st choice - sji
2nd choice - maris stella / nan chiau
3rd choice - clementi town
4th choice - ?
5th choice - ?
6th choice - ?
we are staying at bt timah.
You seem to be in the same situation as Parentof3's friend. (or are you the friend he/she is talking about)?
My advice for your son is to forget SJI.
232 is 9 points away from last year's COP for SJI (241). Even with affiliation, SJI's COP last year was 238. Don't waste your 1st choice in this manner.
Your son can consider MS as his 1st choice instead since his Tscore meets last year COP for MS. This would be a more realistic approach. Hope this helps.
PS: Besides MS, there's also St Andrew's (233). In fact, St Andrew's would be a better choice than SJI (241). Do consider.
We did talk about St Andrew's but it's a bit too far. How about the last 3 choices? Any suggestions?
tks maisy. hehehe been askin my dear friend parentof3 til she had to ask for more advices.
no doubt st andrew is a better choice the banding is 7.
 now more like :-
1. maris stella
2. clementi town
4 choices to go ya. stil need more thinkin ya. -
Anyone knows the top score for PSLE at CHIJ Toa Payoh Pri? I tried asking the parents network but so far nobody knows.
Thinking of sending my kid to that school but now hesitating… -
Kelly9113:
What is the difference between putting a school as ur 1st choice and putting a school as ur 6th choice??? :?:
School posting is based on merit according to three criteria: 1) pupils' PSLE Results, 2) their choices of schools and 3) the vacancies available in the schools.
A pupil who has performed better in the PSLE will have priority over another pupil who has not performed as well. The first pupil will be admitted first, subject to the availability of vacancies in the selected school. The second pupil will then be considered. If there is no more vacancy, the second pupil will be considered for his next choice school, again subject to the vacancies available in that school. -
4 questions,
1. When do we appeal for secondary school?
2. Any fee required?
3. How do I appeal?
4. If i am leaving Singapore on the 22nd after receiving my posting results, are there anything i’m supposed to do?
TIA!!! -

You are staying in Jurong west? Any good school in jurong west?Got 234 as an aggregate for this years PSLE, which school is a better choice?
Is location a big factor when choosing a secondary school?
We want to choose Maris Stella High but we live in Jurong (west) -
need help as still cannot decide what school choice for my DD
We stay in Bukit batok, dd is from Bukit panjang Pri, she has 229, A* for English, A for Science and Chines, B for Maths
She wanted a girl school, not too far from home. She enjoys drama, dances
We are trying St Margaret as 1st choice but definitely needs to appeal as COP is 238. I know it sounds impossible but still want to try as her score of 229 dont give much choice
To appeal, we have to go to the school personally on 23rd dec? Cos we are in Shanghai till 27th, if that is the case, we have to change the flight to return earlier
the other option is simply take nearby school to save her travelling time
other choices are as follow
Nan Chiau(231 sengkang) quite far
Fuhua(229 Chinese Garden)
Kranji(229 Chua Chu Kang)
Bukit Batok(221)
Clementi Town(230 Clementi)
Presbyterian High(229 Yio Chu Kang)
Chung Cheng High(230 Khtaib)
CHIJ St Joseph(226 Sengkang, girls school)
Kuo Chuan(227 Bishan)
What should our choice order be as above?
Anyone has good experiences at any of the above schools? In term of transport, are they conveniently located near bus stop/MRT etcc, notorious for gang/gangster in any of the schools? dd is quite timid
thank you in advance for any help in this. it is now 1.15am, as you can see I am desperate -
is it better to gauge school by their banding, instead of COP?
Banding is the results of O level results, COP does not directly reflect the academic result of the school. Some of the high COP schools have ver high banding -
