I am a former IJ girl...so registering my daughter in IJ TP is only natural...however, I am scared too after reading the negative comments about IJ TP Sec.
Since you have scored 255 points, have you considered going to IJ St Nicholas ?? I am very excited to register my daughter in IJ TP primary...but it seems like IJ TP sec doesn't quite share the same morals as the primary side 'next door'. -

i presume you are planning to go nanyang girls in sec 3. as far as i know HCI(JC section) do not take in sec 3 like VJC or TJC. all NYG and HCI(sec section) will go to HCI(JC) after sec 4.hello all,

i have not bothered to read the pages written before this, but i have already enrolled myself into the mentioned school, and there's a 99.9% i am getting in, as firstly, i come from the \"next door\", so my cut off point is ridiculously low, and that, obviously, my score is high enough to get me in even if i didn't have that unfair advantage.
i am going to the aforementioned school because of the \"star plus\" programme.
after reading the first two pages of this forum discussion, i am disturbed, and severely perturbed as i absolutely do not want myself to be studying in such a negative, suffocating, and moral-lacking environment.
However, i believe, and hope with all my heart that what the parents have said has been changed, as i fear for myself intensely as to what trials i will be forced to face the coming year.
the primary (and pretty much only) reason why i am going to CHIJ TP secondary is because of the \"star plus\" programme. this program is tailored to the higher standard requests and requirements of supposedly smarter students, by having higher difficulty and more interesting, hands on projects and assignments.
and the best part is you get to travel abroad.

i plan to switch schools to hwa chong during sec 3. yes, to take the IP program.
so i am actually using \"next door\" as a sort of \"warm-up\" point. the star plus is only available during sec 1 and sec 2, so i'll be gone by the third year.
with 255 and your interest in IP, you may want to consider RVHS, DHS or even appeal for NYG, NJC after your posting. if the standard in IJ TP is really so bad as what some parents mentioned here, then you are going to lose out in your first 2 years in terms of your development. this may also hamper your chances of getting into IP at sec 3. -

I just want to clarify some of the negative comments here. IJ Sec is definitely a good convent school with good emphasis on academic and moral/ character development. It is definitely better than the average sec school if you compare the achievement and value add.
Both my DDs are from CHIJ Pri. The eldest one took her PSLE in 2008 with 250+ could have gone to a better girls sch like SCGS, Cedar or Cresent but she choose to remain with her many IJ friends, some with high T-score above 265 and 270s. There are in the "star-plus" classes. Next year they will be doing triple science and taking ‘O’ level, some of them are likely among the top ‘O’ level students.
Every year there are always some top CHIJ Pri girls with high 260+ and who could have gone to RGS, NYGH etc but choose to remain as a IJ Convent girl like they say " Once a IJ girl, always an IJ girl ".
My second DD was posted to RGPS GEP after P3, and will be in NUSH next year. If she had remained in CHIJ Pri, she would probably be CHIJ Secondary like her older sister. -

Yes, we did also appleal on the 22nd Dec, but we called and spoke to the pricinple on the 24th, and was told our chances were slim due to my dd t-score @ 227.
You can call the pricinple and ask, if you are still interested in the school. -

According to P, it is still 238 for non-affliated and 230 for the AEP.
