Good choices! ^^HI all
After several posts in various threads, lots of stress and tears (literally), this is the final list for my son who scored 255 +2:
1st choice: RI (almost zero chance, but filling it in juz to try our luck) (259 COP)
2nd choice: HCI (COP 257)
3rd choice: NJC (COP 257)
4th choice: RVHS (COP 251)
5th choice: CHS (COP 248)
6th choice: VS (COP 245)
just want to confirm that, if he can't get into any of the first three, he can at least get into RV or if RV is also out, he can still get CHS.
thks v much.
Dun worry too much, everything will be fine

Hi Micko07,
And your evidence for that is?lolkthanksbye:
One more thing though. Don't go for an IP school unless you want a large dose of classroom politics, homework and pressure.
I studied in an IP school, and I really enjoyed myself. The homework is managable (and it teaches you good time managemet skills, something absolutely necessary for Uni), the peer pressure was healthy and my classmates were great. Competitive, but always helpful and certainly not the kind to stab you in the back. The pressure comes not so much from others, but more from yourself actually IMO.
All of the things you said are found in most schools, not just IP schools.
Go for it livewith_vanilla!
Mind telling which IP school you are attending   -
Hi advice, pl.
T-score: 236 + 2 (HCL)
Residence: Bedok Reservoir Road
1st Choice: COP 240 (SAP sch) & a Band 1 sch (I missed out this important info when registered)
2nd Choice: COP 236 (SAP sch) & a Band 3 sch
3rd Choice: COP 232 (SAP sch) & a band 3 sch & with affiliated PS at lower COP.
4th Choice: COP 234 but a Band 1 sch
5th Choice: COP 236 but a Band 2 sch
I missed out the schools’ performance in O level and If I missed out 1st & 2nd choice I am likely to land in my 3rd choice school. So am I silly not to place 4th to 3rd choice. Apparently 5th choice is a waste.
If I could not get in the 1st choice sch and land in my 2nd choice sch and My mom died died want me to go to the 1st choice school which my t-score is 2 pts shy of the COP (based on '09) of the 1st choice sch, how do I go about to appeal and where can I obtain the information of the appeal procedure and on what ground I could succeed in my appeal.
Thank in advance. -
thks all for the kind words.
reason why ACSI is out is because he may not get into their IP programme if he doesn’t meet the cut off point. besides, since we r staying in toa payoh , travelling time takes about 1 hr plus the fact that it is compulsory to take 2 ccas in ACSI, so we have chosen RV instead. though the travelling time is longer than ACSI by about 20mins or so, it is guaranteed ip.

Hi octopusmum,HI all
would like to clarify some of the doubts about CHS so hopefully can get some opinions in this forum...
is it true that CHS students are not very motivated to do well and most do not end up in good JCs? i hope this question does not offend anyone who is studying in CHS or have kids there but 2 people i know told me that. they also advised my ds not to choose CHS but to choose VS instead. problem is
VS is further away from my place in toa payoh.
btw, ds scored 255 +2.
r CHS and VS the same in terms of academic performance and character development? if yes, then i will forgo VS since travelling time is much longer.
thks
My DS same score as yrs. I prefer VS to CHS  however due to distance I have give up as not worth to travel unlike HCI or RI if meet the score. If you are ever ready to move house , can try lah

RV is in Jurong...near Jurong Point. Will your son be spending more time travelling everyday ? How about ACS Barker ? Sorry if my advice is not updated but I'm following this as my son will be in P5 next year.thks all for the kind words.

But YTSS is having a change of principal would the standards still be the same ?? I'm afraid the standards would dropMabelxxx:
Hmmmmmmm , I stay at Woodlands , however , I'm really confuse weather to choose which school for him as he's insisting to choose Woodlands Ring Secondary where his friends are. The standards of that school is not really good , so could ya'll recommend me some of the school he can go ?
If you think he deserve better school than you might want to try Yishun Town, Anderson, both are not too far from Woodlands. Better schools are for students with higher score and MOE had done a great job by providing every PSLE student a book on choosing your secondary school. Open house also help those who has more questions and unsure what the schools represent. I think most would make up their mind by now which is their 1st choice but anyway all I can say is generally we don't have bad school in Singapore.

HI Janet
yes, we did give it a lot of thought about the distance and we have decided to choose IP over distance. It is not an easy decision to make and we certainly hope we have made a right one.
as for ACS, if you can , try to go for ACSI instead of ACS barker road cause the former is the better one. jmho.
and as a concluding note, would like to inform that my son and i have just submitted the S1 form online! this will put an end to all the stress that i have gone thru in the past few days, agonizing over which school to put…
once again, thks to all who have given me precious advice!
