Hi Kerbaya,

So nice of you to type out all those info for me! πŸ™‚ Thanks alot!

Now then I realize I have not purchase the helpmate. I ordered from the web and received them on 1st dec. So guess will need to go down to school to purchase that.

Erm the clear folder that needs to be brought on first day of school is it one of the item from the booklist? I only see clear holder green for music. Is it that one or need to go buy another clear folder?

Any idea what kind of food are there in the canteen? My girl very choosy on food. Not sure there is any that she likes.
Hi Jessie,

You're most welcome πŸ˜‰

Luckily we have Tinkerbelle here to clear our doubts on the helpmate and clear folder.

I just hope my gal won't eat chicken rice everyday cos that's her favourite... she's abit plump liao...don't want her to be a fatty bom bom like me haha.

hehe.. I am quite curious given a choice, what my girl will buy to eat... cos normally I am the one to suggest.

Btw, where to get those fitted plastic covers for the textbooks and exercise books?? Or I have to buy one roll and start the wrapping myself??

The plastic covers for ex bks, textbks & wkbks are available at Pacific bookstore, it's in the booklist as optional items. πŸ˜„

Can someone provide me with details? Any other things that I should know to get my girl prepared for the first day of school? Thanks!

Cheers,

Hi Jessie,

Sch will commence on 4 Jan 2011 Tue at 12.15pm. The gals will proceed to the sch hall upon arrival and there'll be prefects and staff to assist them at the pickup point. For security reasons, parents are requested to leave sch after you dropped your gal.
Recess for the 1st 3 days of term 1 will be from 2.30 - 3.30pm and they'll have buddy system (P5 gals) on duty to assist our gals during recess time.

I heard from the Vice Principal on the orientation day parents are allowed in the canteen during recess time on the 1st day....am I correct!?! Hope I got the information right?? Thank you πŸ™‚

Books to be handed in on 1st day.

English
Primary English (Revised Ed) Book 1 (Casco)
1 Jotter book
2 wide single line exercise book.

Maths
My Pals Are Here! Textbook 1A
My Pals Are Here! Workbook 1A Part 1

Pls write your gal's name on the books in ink.

Others

Ensure your gal put on the ribbon for the 1st 2 wks to ID which class she is.

Your gal must have a pencil case containing at least 2 sharpened 2B pencils, an eraser, a sharpener, a ruler and a clear folder.

The Pupil's Helpmate (diary) to be brought to sch every day.

Sch bags and water bottles should be light and inexpensive.

All belongings ie. stationery, jackets, books, purse, shoes, sch bag, water bottle etc must be labelled.

Make necessary transport arrabgement for your gal early and instruct her clearly of the appropriate mode for her daily dismissal.

If your gal has to come to sch in the morning for CCA/remedial lessons/sch sctivities, pls prepare her lunch for her to bring along. Otherwise give her pocket money to purchase food from the canteen. To inculcate indepandance and responsibility, family supervision during lunch is not allowed in sch or at the canteen.
Thanks tinkerbelle for explaining what the clear folder is for.

Food wise, I am a bit worry my girl may be too shy to go buy the food herself after the buddy system is over. She may choose not to eat.

Are you all letting ur girl go school by school bus on the first day? My girl has not taken school bus before. Will she be frighten and lost when she reach school? Somemore she din go for the orientation.

Hi jessie,
Maybe your DD can ask her classmate to go and queue up together with her for moral support and they can both buy food together. Alternatively, you can pack lunch for her.

Not to worry, your DD will not be lost when she reaches sch. There will be teacher assistants around to assist all the students on the 1st day.
Just make sure your DD has her colour-coded ribbon pinned onto her uniform. If she looks lost, someone will be able to direct her to the right direction/class. Last year, some gals took the sch bus on their own and their parents met them at the sch foyer to see how they're doing. If you're free, you might want to do that on the 1st day. However, you'll only be allowed in the foyer and canteen. Strictly not allowed to go to the classrooms. πŸ˜‰

Hi JonC,

According to the booklist, P3 can buy their textbooks on the 30/11/10, 03/12/10, 14/12/10 (Tues)-17/12/10(Fri) or 27/12/10(Mon)-29/12/10(Wed) from 9AM to 3PM.

Uniforms you can buy anytime now from United Uniforms. FYI, P3 are allowed to wear their P2 pinafores if they still fit.

Maybe the booklist my DD didn’t give me.

You have the P3 Booklist if your DD is P3 next year?

Hi JonC,
My DDs are not in P3 next year but you can access the P3 booklist at the pacific bookstore website: http://www.pacificbookstores.com
Under the \"Buy Textbooks Here\" icon, click on the 'Primary Schools' link. There'll a list of many primary schools. Just click on the Marymount Convent School link and select the P3 list. πŸ˜„
