        Dear all,

        Please help me with this:
3/5 of Alethea’s bangles was twice as many as Millicent’s bangles. Millicent and Amber had bangles in the ration of 6:7. All of them paid a combined total of $528 on the bangles. Given that each bangle cost the same, how much did Alethea pay for her bangles?

Answer is $320. Do you think the question has omitted the word "cost" somewhere in the question?

        Thank you.

It's taken from CHIJ 2008 SA1 paper. Any one out there knows where is the typo?

              3/5 Al = 2 M
              Al/M = 10/3 = 20/6

              M/Am = 6/7

              20 + 6 + 7 = 33

              20/33 x 528 = $320

              Alethea paid $320.

In fact, I thought the question is set wrongly because if there are only 2 persons, the ratios are wrong. Maybe because I read what you wrote (missing price) and thought 1 of the ratio should refer to something else other than quantity. Silly me too :stupid:

I always tell my children \"must read question PROPERLY\". Must ask my mother to repeat that to me.

                        Hi, pls help

Meihua and her brother have $100 altogether. If their mother gives Meihua another $20, Meihua will have as much money as her brother. How much money does Meihua have?

May I know what is the answer? $40 or $60?

                        TIA
