Hi Mjl, thanks for your reply. So I suppose only a very small % of students are allowed to do that. The rest will go thru the normal planned course and will not be doing any accelerated modules?

        Hi sall,

Any students, even those not from NUS high can be exempted from first year modules by just taking an exemption tests the university organised. If one do well for that test, he will then be exempted from those modules and proceed to year two modules. It is not too difficult to get exempted. Many year 1 modules are just slightly more difficult than A levels but you need to read up yourselves.

This is true, for the 'A' levels students. I heard that for some modules in NTU (likely to apply to NUS too), there is exemption from Year 1 module as long as students score an 'A' for a certain 'A' level related subject.

In NUS High, many undergraduate topics (esp Maths & Science) are covered in Year 5 & 6. Hence even students who do not take NUS modules while they are in high school, after graduation, can take the exemption tests for certain NUS Year 1 modules. If passed, they will proceed to take the Year 2 modules for those Year 1 exempted modules while taking some other Year 1 modules without exemption. Similarly, existing NUS High students taking NUS modules can also take the NUS exemption tests and proceed to take higher level NUS modules.

if I am not mistaken, both NTU and NUS offers exemption especially for the H3 papers conducted by them (Biology, Chenistry, Physics and Economics) for A-level students.

I know a girl with 260, put on wait-list, but didn’t get it. Very hard to say but quite risky.

I heard thru the DSA they took in 90% of placements, with that about 17 vacancies left. This year PSLE-Posting got to be very competitive b'cos they advertised on the ST and there was an article on 2 ex-NUSH whiz kids on 19 November.
