Actually getting the award is a affirmation of the effort that the kids put in. In addition, we are hoping that they are motivated by it.

On the other hand, I feel that it's an affirmation for the parents who put in time, effort and money to consistently guide the kids. It's just a signal to us that yes, our efforts have not gone to waste and money is not thrown into the deep blue sea.

But I also feel that this is also governed by the performance of their peers. Eg. if the peers didn't do as well then they can move up the scale :? So this aspect is alittle uncontrollable too and not really a good gauge. :?

But for kids who constantly study hard and produce relatively good results they will not be nominated for good progress...kind of unfair to them right πŸ˜‰

Yes, was told to get the good progress award, just study hard on the even years, P2, 4,6 which will concide with P6 also.
emmm..is that so.. :scratchhead:
not true la..my nephew this year p3 and he got good progress award le..

Actually... I am wondering if it is not a SA1 and SA2 comparison??? Do they give out during SA1? My dd results was fairly consistent between the 2 exams (except for science which her grades jump by 10+ marks) but her level ranking improved significantly from P2.
So not conclusive whether it is improvement from previous year's result and current year's result or SA results of the same year. For me, got this award this year = πŸ˜‰. Will keep encouraging dd to do her best and see what other unknown awards land at my doorstep next year!!

I wonder how they do the \"good progress\" comparison too. My sec 1 ds got the good progress award too. Unless they compare with PSLE? haha! But how to compare with psle? haha.

                Hi

ycpang - Tks for the update... Phew!! No worries then... πŸ˜„
Pen88n - Congrats too!!! :celebrate: Understand that besides being selected by his/her school for this scholarship based on year-end examination results and good conduct, the child also has to be a Singaporean. So like what DS was saying, after removing some of those top scorers in his class (foreigners) and those with conduct issues, he may stands a chance in the Top 5% category... Anyway, told him it's an honour to be selected for the award, regardless of Top 5% or 10%, so should be grateful lah... πŸ˜„
Someone told me the list of top 5% and 10% is submitted by the school based on school top 5% and top 10%. Even though the foreigners are removed, it does not mean the locals will move up the ladder to become top 5%. Don't know for sure, but nevermind, an award is already a good motivation!

                  Hi Pen88n

Yup, you're right. Being awarded is a good enough recognition and encouragement to the kids for their effort and hopefully with this award it will boost them further. But on the other hand, if the fact which you've mentioned about after removing foreign classmates don't automatically place them at a higher rank is true, guess we should be more proud of our kids' achievement then. πŸ˜„

Really hope my DS is able to sustain his motivated attitude till he completes his PSLE next yr... Sigh... πŸ™

the edusave letter was dated before PSLE result, and is the same date as that of other levels (P4, P5, Sec 1,2,3 etc) ...hence for the P6, it must have been based on school results.

the EAGLES award letter is dated December
