Hey Tamarind, agree with Smurf that 2 sets of thermal shd be enuf. Did the same during our 5/6 days to Tokyo a few years back. The 2nd set is for the \"just-in-case\" situation. We are ksp afterall πŸ‘…

            Hi aa, schweppes, tankee,

Thanks πŸ˜„ OK I think I better get some heat packs. I wonder if those from Daiso are good enough ?

            smurf,
Did you wash the thermal wear in Tokyo ?

            aa,
Now I am worried about my son's nose. He gets runny nose even in air-con room. Do you know of any medication good for runny nose ?

Can get the heat packs from Daiso, else you can buy in Japan. Easily available in convenience stores (7-11, Lawson, ...).

For medication, I got the PD to prescribe for cold, cough, allergies and fever, according to his records. Feel safer this way ... KS again

              Tamarind,
My son also always get runny nose when it is cold. We bought Karvol Decongestant Capsules from Guardian or Unity which we will then break and drop the liquid onto Handkerchief for him which helps to clear up his blocked up nose. Not sure if it will work for your son. You may want to check it out.

For the Thermal wear, we let him wear his Pyjamas beneath his Thermal and we change his PJ everyday while we let him wear the Thermal for a few days. That felt cleaner to me. πŸ˜‰

I bought the heat pads from Winter wear last year. Paste it on him everyday before we leave the hotel. We bring along spare ones in case we are out longer. I think the heat pads last 8 hours or so. Not sure about the Daiso ones though. If you think you have a chance to go to the local departmental stores when you are in Japan, then you should buy there as they are much cheaper there.

              Enjoy your trip!

Yes, must prepare medication ! Remember there is language barrier, so would be difficult if see doc ! I also brought along kids' and adults' medication for fever, runny nose, cough, vomit, diarrhea...Err we even got the family doc to prescribe antibiotics juz in case my younger girl got sore throat...haha... See how KS I am!

I bought heat packs from Wintertime and Daiso, both about the same πŸ™‚ My Mum swears by it ! Good for frozen fingers and toes (Put in your shoes, under your sole)

Funny thing with kids, they don't like to wear many layers ! I often had to force my boy to wear his jacket during the trip (Even when we were outdoors!)

                  Dear all,

                  Thanks for your information πŸ˜„

My boy is not going to wear anything inside the thermal πŸ˜‰ I thought it is supposed to be the first layer ? He will wear a fleece sweater and pants, then a down jacket outside.

I just went to Daiso yesterday, their heat packs are sold out. I will try Winter Time. I will not be in central Tokyo until the day before we return. We will be in Disneyland, then traveling up to the snow mountains of Hakuba which will be a lot colder than Tokyo. It may not be convenient for us to buy things.

                    Tam,
Coldwear and OG has it too.
If not, try to get them from convenience store in Narita Airport.

I Thoth not supposed to wear anything under thermals? Coz thermals are meant to be snug snug, if you wear something under, no effect.

maybe you are right. I did it partly because my kid hated the thermal as he finds it prickly. He is comfortable with his PJs directly in contact with his skin. As the thermals were quite snug and held the Pjs well beneath it, seems ok for him.
