      insider:
There is a Cert in Student Care though I know there are very few people having this in the market. Not that this is a very qualified cert but if a teacher does not have some minimal good O Level results to begin with, then at least must have this cert.

When I recruit BASC teachers, need to have decent O Level results (at least be good in Eng and Maths (at least B4) else difficult to coach those pr students) and best to have A Level and when they look 'firm' on the position (sad to say this category of people usually will not stay long in the job once they have better place to go), then go for Cert in Student Care.

Older batch of Diploma in Preschool holders shy to say many of them having only 3 O levels (newer batch need to have 5 incl Eng) and these teachers I really can't put them in the BASC room else I will be plagued with calls of how to solve maths problems... (I would not say that it's their fault coz those maths questions are sometimes really tough and it takes someone more experienced to solve them).

PS: Depending on what you want. If your objective is mainly on care, then don't really have to bother about the teacher's qualification (some centres only commit supervising homework and don't commit on tuition and so when they choose teachers, they will choose someone who is responsible and caring to the kids' living needs and not really on academic). Theres no minimum requirement to be a BASC teacher afterall... (so you have to ask, speak to the teacher to hear his/her level of English, and if skin thick enough, ask the principal about the O level score of the the teacher...)
      Hi Insider,

I think you are right where if my main concern is on care since the most they at the centre the most about 7.30am to 12pm. P1 is in the afternoon.
I doubt in the morning what can be achieve.

You mean there are some centre would can commit on tuition? DD still in Pre-Nursery so maybe would consider putting in a childcare nexy year while DS going P1.

Would be same as Bakugan go explore around the Student Care & Childcare Centre near my area. (Bukit Merah, Tiong Bahru & Telok Blangah)

          thanks all for the inputs.

some additional centres that i had checked out for your consideration. 🙂

          Alphabet Student Care
16, Dublin Road (at Killiney, near to Comcentre)
          Singapore 239805
          Tel: 67378201

there are many RVPS students at the student care, probably cos this is one of the nearest from RVPS.
I have finally selected this due to the above reason.

          Cambridge @ Tanglin
          38C Belvedere Close
          Singapore 159883
          Tel: 6475 6556 / 6475 7998

          Kim Seng CC
(i dont have the contact number & details).
may want to check out the PA website.

there's another one at Kim Tian, but I can't recall the name now.....

          Hope this helps. 🙂

I suggest parents to go to the centre to see the teachers in action, speak to the teachers, check out the environment.
At the same time, consider the distance, logistics (ie is it far from home/school, what time the school bus picks up the kids. is it too early?), etc before deciding.

Underdstand that this BASC seem like a CC um BASC together. What I want is 100% BASC where there are someone supervise the kid or best to teach them do the homework.

                      Hi,

Any suggestion on which student care is better in terms of environment and if there is any teacher supervision? PCF Telok Blangah or Cherie Hearts Harbourfront?

                        Hi,

Besides saving on transport, are school’s BASC better than external BASC?
School’s seem to have a pretty high teacher-student ratio but generally is cheaper?
I’m concerned aboout how conducive the learning environment would be…

Any advice would be much appreciated!
