I am also in the same situation, dd's score is 19 points above COP of her dream sch, but we like the sch and the prog offered . That's what matters most.

But having a t-score 20 points higher than the COP of the schools isn't rare, take for example a boy who score 275 who chose HCI, for example, his score will be 18 points above the school COP. And I am very sure, it is quite common even in schools like RGS (and RI) and Nanyang. The question is that once your score is above certain percentile, your score will be significantly higher than most people.

Yeah, I agree. But somehow, I got bombarded by criticism from everybody about my choice, even her pri sch teachers do not agree with our choice.[/quote]I understand the reasoning that if a child isn't very sure which school she prefers, then it is logical to just put six schools with descending order according to COP. But if the child is clear which school she prefers, there is no reason to follow any fix rules. Are there any real reason why one school has a higher COP than the other besides some mysterious reasons better students tend to choose the first school over the latter?

Most girls who score 260+ will always choose RGS or NY. For boys, it’ll be RI or HCI. So the COP of these schs never drop. The public just have gd impression of these elite schs, so lots of parents will hope their children get a place there.

Actually, with the DSA sports, some students have much lower score than the COP. I know of gals who scored less than 240 this yr, got into NY because of sport talent.

Is it true that we can only know the COP for all the secondary school on 22 Dec?

No way to find out now?

yes. COP is based on the score of the last student posted to the school through the PSLE posting exercise. students posted through DSA are not considered for the COP.

              Thanks!

Now then I know the students posted through DSA are not considered for the COP. 😄
