MMM:
You can register in 2A first, then if you know later based on the number that you sure get a place in 2C you can withdraw from the school you registered and re-apply.Just curious... Does alumni member have priority to gain a place in the school at later phase eg. phase 2C?
Just wondering for parents whose primary school is ok but they would like to try another school 1st. Any priority if they go back to their primary school at later phase eg if they were unsuccessul in the 1st school they tried??? -
Tulip:
Correct. Have to fair to the rest of the applicants right?
I don't think so. Once you missed the phase 2A registration, there is no going back.MMM:

Actually, what some parents did is to register in their 1st choice school on 1st day, and monitor the registration situation. On the 2nd day of registration, one parent will be situated in 1st and 2nd choice school respectively. Usually until half hour before registration close, if the 1st choice school heading for balloting and they think the 2nd choice school has a higher chance of securing a place, the parent situated in the 1st school will withdraw registration and the other parent situated at the 2nd school (with original documents) will register in the 2nd choice school.
Yap this is the way! Coz u need original documents to register, but u do not need them to withdraw. So register in one first. -
Certified copy can also be done at police post.
If the two schools are close by, like within walking distance, you can ask your partner to chope in the second sch. Then, you quickly withdraw and run over with original documents. (Er, personally, I have never done this so by theory, it sounds feasible but in practice, I don’t know.)
EDIT: Okay, I just read Luanee’s post. Now I believe it is feasible. -

Ummm... isn't this a loophole? What's to stop someone from masquerading as parents requesting to withdraw an application of another child, just to make their own odds better? :!: -
ChiefKiasu:
I think the school will at least check the parent IC and matches with the child birth cert (copy submitted duirng the application) for verification and then make the parent sign the withdrawal form. If we can think of the loopholes, most likely the schools or MOE have already \"patched\" the hole.Luanee:

Do most KS parents chiong only at the last half hour or so? Isn't it dangerous in case there is a breakdown in the computer system blah blah (acts of god) and you miss the deadline? Or if there are so many parents who are like-minded...won't there be a queue close to deadline and by the time it's your turn...it's past the deadline? :?

I know I can only apply 1 sch in any phase, what I mean is, if we qualify for 2B for BOTH schs, but in case if the 1st sch we want require balloting for <1km, can we jump ship to proceed to 2nd sch (since 2nd sch no need balloting) on the same or next day?
You only can apply to 1 school in any phase. The 2 days are opened for phase 2B registration. After the phase 2B is closed if the number of applicants is lesser than the vacancies, all students will get in. If more, then balloting is conducted in a few days after phase 2B is closed. After that will be phase 2C.smurf:
Thanks Miracle Child!
can we try balloting at the more popular school (we are balloting at >2km)) 1st on the 1st day and then if cannot get a place, the other parent will register at the 2nd choice school?
workable?? :? -
School P1 registration is still very manual. You only know the number of applicants in that school when you are there. There is no real time update on the screen (not like stock market) or something like that. The numbers will probably written on the whiteboard by parent volenteers (hopefully not those on the same registration).
An example in a school with following scenario of the 50 seats available for 2B
within 1km - 20 applicants - all get in.
1-2km - 35 applicants, need to ballot (there will be 5 disapponted parents)
2km - no chance (try another schools).
One will know the chance based on the distance of address. The lesser the seat available the more critical is the distance. -

But depending at the time you apply, the number keeps on running. You will know the number on the whiteboard whether you need to balot or not, you may or may not want to apply. Not sure I get your question right.........

But there is a risk if you only based on the 1st day number because there may be many last minutes parents coming in and you are not aware if you are not there to see at last minute.
