Appeal Secondary One Posting

It was my dh’s idea to put hci as second choice and I went along w it. Not knowing the consequences… If I have followed closely to the threads, I would have given it a second thought. As mentioned earlier, dh and i discussed till 3am the night before and only able to decide just an hr away from subission time. Yes I have to admit I feel like kicking myself now and that I felt guilty and sorry for Ds for being the one who is responsible for spoiling his chances of getting into hci. What is done cannot be undone. I will definitely not repeat Tis mistake when it is my ds2 and 3’s turn.

there is no need to blame anyone, not youeself nor your DH. hindsight is always perfect.just do the needful thing to go appeal at HCI. someone posted that there are cases where HCI was not even in the 6 choices but still managed to appeal in -
Octopusmum, good luck to your appeal. If appeal is not successful, don’t feel so sad as RV is also a good sch.

My friend just got a call from the school for the appeal. Applied under category 1.fromnuaa:

HI Verykiasu2010 and sall
thks for trying to console me. i guess the person who went in via appeal and didn’t select HCI at all must have gotten v v high score.
i just received a call from my mum who asked where her grandson is posted to. the moment she heard RV, she said : wah, so far. almost everyone i know has the same reaction when i told them this. their reaction sounds like , the poor kid has to travel so far everyday for 6 years because the mother wants him to be in IP. some , eg my mum, said why not CHS, CHS is a good school and is much nearer to where we stay. of course, my mum doesn’t know anything about the current school system, what is IP etc and she is not the only one…
when we go house visiting come CNY, i can bet with you, the relatives/friends will have the same reaction and i can just imagine dh’s reaction. i am not sure if i can take the "pressure" then. i don’t think i want to go into details on how IP works, and why i go for RV instead of CHS etc -
INNOVATE:

I almost do like you, prefer IP but ds had convince me to let him go to VS, moreover he will be the one attending and he must be comfortable with it. He scored 253+2. fyi I'm staying north east and office at chin bee road only one bus stop away from RV can give him fetch him everyday.HI Verykiasu2010 and sall

My son wants to go ip school actually and he doesn’t mind going to rv. In fact, he is surprised that I want to appeal to hci

Well if you take a step back, rv is also a good ip school and you pay only very cheap cheap school fee for 6 years.
If I am not wrong our forum parent - daisyst stay in the north and send her dd to rv.

hi zann
thks for the comforting words. i know rv is a good school too. which is why i have included it as one of the choices. juz that, i tend to get stressed up when pple stared at me and said: why rv? so far away from toa payoh? though they didn’t say it in my face, i am sure at the back of their mind, they must be thinking " this is one cruel mum who makes the kid travel all the way from tp to jurong daily for 6 yrs."
