Thanks for your feedback. I thought so too. I think one have to do your fair share in order to keep yourself abreast with what's going on in school but NOT to be enslaved by it. If you feel that it is a gruelling process day in day out..then it will no longer be something you wil enjoy doing. It should be a stimulating and an enriching journey. Having the right attitude, tenacity, positive outlook and drive to do better is essential to excel anyway.
I believe as long as the student pays attention in class and is hardworking, passing pop tests shld not be a prob. There shld not be any difference whether the student belongs to DSA or central posting or appeal case.PowerPuff Mum:
Got some feedback from a student in NJC..her feedback is that it's constant grilling and tests given without notice. DSA students failing tests cos they are not hardworking enough...
On the other hand, another student said that he enjoyed the learning experience, appreciate the school methodologies/programs and students/teachers are great! Hmmm....what do you think students and parents of NJC students? Please give me yr thoughts on this.
Study skills also affect a student's performance. During boarding, my boy has this roommate who wld study late into the night for a next day test. Another classmate is also very hardworking and revises regularly. Both get different results.
As for my boy, he revises whatever is on the web portal, completes all assignments and reads non-fiction books on Sci n Maths. He does not complain abt the schwork/teachers/programs. I believe he enjoys the sch.
Also, from P6 to Sec 1 .. there's alot of adjustments to be made. I trust the school will help students with this transition. I must say that I am impressed with what I see in this school so far. Beyond that, parents have to also play their part in supporting and guiding their children to do the right thing and have the right atittude towards their studies. -

in 2010

Got DSA students failing, meh? I know some of the top students in Acc.Math are DSA students whose psle scores are like 10+ points below the COP. But they are managing fantastically in NJC. And there are other DSA students who are doing very well too in other areas. Better in fact than some of the students who got in with 260+ psle (non-DSA) cases. I doubt DSA students are not \"hardworking enough\". There seems to be attributes that NJC has identified to give DSA offers to these students.DSA students failing tests cos they are not hardworking enough...

I am sure NJC will not offer places to any undeserving students. In the first place, the selection was rigorous and only limited places were available for DSA. surely they will pick the best of the lot. In any case, most times students who were offered DSA are able to meet or exceed COP anyway.

I am not sure of how genuine that comment was. -

Most times only. Not always though. You'll be surprised that quite a number of DSA students get psle scores below COP, and it can be quite way below COP, often bc they are poor in languages (esp mother tongue). -
