Ok,Thanks! if i did well for chinese in secondary school,i may take higher mother tongue right? (sorry for asking so many questions)
When you received your results slip, it did indicate whether you are eligible for HMT, go and check it out.zoey28498:
Oh..I didnt receive that letter..But can i appeal for it?
If you want to appeal for HMT, usually the secondary schools will look at your term 1 or SA1 MT result and for some schools, they'll wait till your SA2 results. -

Ok.thankszoey28498:
Can i appeal to take higher mother tongue in secondary 1 if i didn't score a A* in psle and did not take higher mother tongue in primary 6? i score an A in my PSLE.As you know, A can be consider as high A and low A,which has a great different.Based on my results on the past few years..i only score 75..which is a low A..a very low A..Do you think i can cope with it? It is true that if i take higher mother tougue in my O level, and pass it,2points can be deducted from my result? 2 points are a lot.. :?:
If you got an \"A\", you'll need to be TOP 10% of the cohort to be automatically offered HMT.
Yes, the pupil can obtain 2 points deduction if gotten a pass in HMT in \"O\" level. -

(sorry for asking so many questions)[/quote]if depends on the school u are in. some schools allow the students to switch to higher chinese after SA1 or after Sec 1. u have to speak to your chn teacher abt it. of course u have to work hard to prove that u have the capability to study the subject.

Meanwhile, U can work to improve on your MT during the school holidays. Of course, U must show your passion and your CL results speak louder than anything. -

Got information from MOE Web....
Pupils who offer Mother Tongue Language (MTL)(i.e. Chinese/ Malay/ Tamil) or HMTL (i.e. Higher Chinese/ Higher Malay/ Higher Tamil) at the PSLE and
are ranked among the top 10% of the PSLE; or
are in the top 11% - 30% band who meet the language criteria (i.e. an A* grade in the MTL or at least a Merit in the HMTL)
may opt to study HMTL at secondary schools. They may offer English Language and HMTL in the GCE ‘O’ Level Examination at the end of Secondary Four.
