phankao:
next year the system will be changed. you wil do choose to do two ccas in the first and second term and for the third it will be like a advanced CAFE program that continues either from the first and second. from this the student will continue to the JH2 chosen cca for a year. They will get to change again in JH3. but the CCAs remains the same for JH3 and JH4. of course, most students will not change unless they really dislike the ccas and from JH2, some will already hold exco positions in the cca.jtoh:
Kaypohing here, how does CAFE work? Do the kids get a chance to represent the school in CCAs then?
You select 3 ccas to do for the whole year. Also have to put 1st choice, 2nd choice, 3rd choice, like any other school's cca selection, but there are no trials. It's just based on availability.
At the end of the year, again, have to select a core cca, and if the child wants - a 2nd cca (there are way more choices for 2nd cca though).
Whether they get to represent school, depends on the cca, their ability and the events/competitions/fairs available, right?
Things like math olympiads and science fairs, i think don't need to be part of cca to be seleted to represent school. -
helloeveryone:
Except that the ccas in the cafe list quite limited .

For those who want to know the whole details, the CAFE programme is described in this document (available on school website).

It says that jh1 students go thru CAFE bc otherwise the students may find the choice *daunting*? Not so scary bah. Some students are already so used to CCAs that they've done in pri school, but these are not available to them until upper junior high or even senior high! -

Or softball, tennis, which are quite common in pri school these days. And no guzheng ensemble, string orchestra, angklung ensemble, which are also common in primary schools.

the difficulty in standard has dropped since the first batch o.O
