Nan Hua High School

Jojothehusky:
May I know when to wear the nan hua tie? is it needed on the first day of school?
Ties must be worn every Thursday because there is assembly on that day, no need to wear on the first day
But if new sec1s still can't get a tie for some valid reason (maybe ties are out of stock), teachers would probably let it go for the first few weeks. -
Serafiel:
yup, the teachers suck a lot
for example, all they do is give exam papers (from schools like XMSS only) and go through TYS. NO NOTES to save paper. Just reading from tb. we learn the basics but got no idea how to do data based qn, worth 20 marks each at the end of paper 2.
The arts (el, humanities) teachers waste time in class by chit chatting. HW is given but not marked
A lot of time is wasted for lame \"enrichment\" programmes.Serafiel:
Then what about me? I graduated in 2010, fyi. And some of my teachers really do volunteer to stay back after school or come back to school on saturday for remedials.fin89 how long was it since you graduated?
Just bc NH was good last time doesnt mean it is good now
NH's results were better than ever but that doesn't mean that the environment is good. Sure some schools like NYGH are elitist and rich, but at least they have teachers who can teach.
NH have some good teachers--those who retired already AHAHAHA
I am ashamed to be from NH not bc its not a brand school but bc it's morality and such is not good. All the teachers do is talk but they don't do. Like i said, the teachers will only stay back with you if you pester them. They won't automatically ask you to come.
Of course there are good teachers anywhere but the point is for a school like NH there is not enough.
Come on, how can you trust the words of an alumna over that of a recent graduate? When the worst is over all you can rmb is the good stuff and that is the truth, ladies and gentlemen. Maybe 20 years down the road I'll think like you, fin89.
My math teacher would ask the class if anyone wants to meet him for remedials on saturday, and he stays back for night study every day when O levels was nearing, even though he didn't have to, and even though he wasn't exactly in the pink of health. Even when it's the school holidays, he wouldn't mind meeting his students for remedial any day he's available, even if the remedial is held outside school. And he would be glad to receive a phone call late in the night to ask him for help if we're stuck with a question.
And my language or humanities teachers do print extra materials for us. Print. On paper. Yes, sometimes they save paper by squeezing two pages into one, but they do print them out on paper, contrary to what you have said about not receiving notes.
My physics teacher offered to give us (us referring to only 4 students) remedial on saturdays since we are weaker in the subject. She took the time to go back to school just to give 4 students remedial, because we needed the extra help. And when she couldn't make it to school, she didn't cancel the remedial session. She asked if we would mind going to her house for remedial instead. That's how dedicated she was.
As for the enrichment programmes, they must have been arranged for a reason. Why would they waste their time, energy and possibly money to plan something for no particular use or reason?
Some enrichment activities helped me bond with others and made me more outgoing. When I was in primary school, I was so shy, but after joining NH, I have definitely become more outspoken and confident. I don't think it was the studying and lessons in the classroom that transformed me, so what does that leave us with? The CCAs and enrichment programmes.
And then you complain about students being racist. Hello, some of the enrichment programmes included malay dance, indian dance, etc etc. Maybe (I'm not assuming, just stating a possibility) they were arranged to expose us to other cultures, since we are from an SAP school. So what do you want? Racist students? No enrichment programmes? All work and no play? Or are you going to complain if your school didn't arrange enough enrichment programmes for you?
I can proudly say that I'm from Nan Hua, and that I love my school a lot and have never once regretted coming to this school.
I love my school so much that I even bothered replying to this -.-\"
But to anyone who has read Serafiel's comments about NH, please don't just assume that NH is a horrible school.
Of course, if there are students who love the school, there would be students who hate it as well.
And there will always be a mix of good and bad teachers, no matter which school you go to. I don't deny that I find some of my teachers rather slack, but I will never be so ungrateful to the extent of flaming my school on a forum about it.
Through the four years in NH, there has got to be some pleasant memories, or friends who have cared for you, or teachers who tried their very best to improve your grades, whether you've noticed it or not.
Never have I thought of NH as \"hell\", and if you really think it's \"Nine levels of Hell\", then what does that make you? The devil? -
Hi
I am very sure for Nan Hua to be a sap school they must have their own niche and has proven on their academic result. -

Are you a boy or a girl btw?

Cos some CCAs are meant for girls or boys only hahaha.
Dance is definitely one of the better CCAs.
The others, I guess you can go to the school website to see what awards each CCA has gotten?
There will be a CCA Extravaganza before you have to choose your CCA, so you can get a rough idea of how each CCA is like.
In my opinion, though, I think that choir seems to be getting better. SJAB also seems quite good. And I like the performances by band
But I'm not from any of these CCAs mentioned so what I say might not be very accurate

I'm not exactly sure how you are posted to your class, I just know that those under the Tablet PC programme would be in the same class
