yes, my ds is also P4 there is a change in the chin oral. I understand from school that the reading part is very important, the marks weightage is high. Also for conversation (not sure for eng or chin) as i know is the children need to give his/her view on the things and able to have a conversation with the examiner. I always tell my ds oral must score as high as possible. His English oral is not an issue as he did his UK LAMDA exam.

My son’s classmate’s tuition teacher mentioned that MOE is allowing some form of autonomy to schools, to decide their chinese language format. To what extent it would be different, we would not know as it’s school-dependent. Example, many schools introduced Show-and-Tell, coupled with the conventional listening comprehension…

My son’s school did that…and that made the book on oral preparation which I bought from Popular useless!

We need to know what format our children’s schools are adopting.

I’m not sure on this issue but what I shared is told by ds’s principal for PSLE. I think for show and tell session is more for the lower pri 1 &2 under the Stellar programme as they wanted the children to able to speak up and communicate well. It’s a foundation to oral skill for future in like public speaking. I do notice our children are good in academic but when comes to speech, they are not confident and not comfortable especially infront of many people. that’s the reason why even secondary teens are doing spoken eng or public speaking course.

Mine did the UK Lamda exams thru periwinkle…an external party engaged by son’s school. He stopped after P3 though.
