same here, DD is also starting Sec 1 at NYGH this week. are you going for the parents' session this friday ?

Yes we will be going. There’s a school tour at 430pm. Dd is my 2nd one in secondary and I feel it’s still important to stay connected with the school and and child.

Does anyone know how they group the classes ? Do they have something like ispaks (HCI) ? Heard the last 3 or 4 classes are "gifted" classes. The booklist is the same for all students; so wonder what’s the difference other than the class size?


My DD1 had a great time this week - she commented that the girls are all very "high" and really enjoying themselves. They’ve got the angels and mortals game where the senior class (sec 2) would "adopt" one girl in Sec 1 (same class number) and they will correspond with "secret" notes. Hope she’ll continue to enjoy her school life at NYGH.

there is difference in class size? My DD is in 101 because she is in AEP, her class is 30 students, I thought all the classes are same.

if not wrong it is 450 per year

those with affiliation must have minimum 250 and above

can ask Mdm Heng at the open house what is the number from affiliation but it will be anybody's guess in any year

as a guide, NYPS' cohort is about 480. assume half are boys, and girls will be 240

each year (in the past) about +/- 45% of the cohort got 250 or higher in PSLE, so it is about 45% x 240 = 108 who may end up in NYGH, but many also choose RGS, some may go to NUSH or DHS....so those who got in NYGH through affiliation \"discount\" could be way lesser than 108 as many of them also score above the COP of 263 or 262
