All About Full-Time Maids

Hi all,
I'm a 1st time maid employer looking for a myanmar maid. May I know which are the agencies that specialise in myanmar maids? And where did you get yours if you have one.
Thanks.

My new Philipino maid (3 mths) is asking whether she can has handphone or not, she said she wants it mainly from her family to call her, she will buy a very cheap one without camera. In fact i am alright with it, but what the rules i have to set?
-
1) Calls can only be made after working hours or weekends.
2) Chatting less than 1hr or else they will be too tired to work the next day.
3) During working hours, hp should be off if it's really meant for her family to call her.Anna Ng:

Hi I am new here and have a question about maid. I need to send my Myanmar maid home for home leave. What I need to prepare/give her for smooth clearance in custom? What I heared is Myanmar home leave is very complicated as compare to Filipino / Indo.
Hi, I'm also about to send my Myammar maid on home leave. I did a search and saw the above question, but there was no direct answer given.
The Myammar embassy website isn't very helpful too. It seems their official stand is to discourage their females from working as maids! See http://www.mesingapore.org.sg/consular_services.htm#maid
Has anyone here sent a Myanmar maid on home leave (and got her back
) previously? Is it as straightforward as (1) buy her the return air tickets and (2) ensure her WP is valid for X months?
Appreciate any kind help. Thanks! -
My maid has been with us for 3 years, she has been doing a decent job although sometimes also try to ‘eat snake’ here and there…my kids who are coming to 3.5 yrs old are naturally very close to her and i must say that she can manage them quite well too, knowing their ‘patterns’ and such…
Just tonight, I casually mention whether she has the intention to go to work in HK since that’s the inspiration of many maids…she says that she will like to continue working with us but hope to get get more off days for the next contract…she only had a half day off during Dec this year, and our current agreement is half day off every 3 months…
I guess granting off is not that difficult for us especially as the kids get older…my other concern is, after 6 years with this ‘auntie’, how will the kids take it if she leaves them then??
If you were me, would you renew this maid or get a new one so that the kids do not get too attached to one ‘auntie’? -

I would keep the maid as it is really very difficult to get a good maid now as compared to 5 years ago. I feel that a lot of maids think that they are here for holiday so if don't like this employer, they ask for transfer. My maid has been with us for 3 years, she has been doing a decent job although sometimes also try to 'eat snake' here and there....my kids who are coming to 3.5 yrs old are naturally very close to her and i must say that she can manage them quite well too, knowing their 'patterns' and such...

Recently my maid of 7 months have been slagging in her work and we often had to tell her off. Last week, she told my mum that she feels that someone has done black magic to her. So my mum replied that no one is so free to do such thing and that if she doesn't like to work in our house, she can ask for a transfer. Then the maid immediately kept quiet.
I guess as your kids grow a bit older, if you explain to them that the maid is going home to her family, they probably can accept it, though they may miss her for a while. -
Dear All,
Can anyone advise how to cancell or terminate foreign domestic worker’s work permit on line?
She has left Singapore on 04 Jan early morning.
I have yet to cancell her work permit. -

Huh? How can she leave without that piece of paper to state her wp is cancelled?Dear All,

I have yet to cancell her work permit.
I go to http://www.mom.gov.sg,
- select WP Online for Employers of Foreign Domestic Workers.
- Log in via singpass.
- Select the option to cancel work permit (menu on left hand side)
- Search for your maid's wp, and select date of departure.
- Submit.
It's that easy. After a while (can't recall how long but should be within a day), log on again to retrieve/print the confirmation letter. The maid should bring the lower half of that letter when she clear immigration. The work permit card should either be returned by her when she clears immigration; else I think you can return it directly to MOM.
The date when they cancel the work permit is actually the date you submit the cancellation request (even if she is leaving a few days later). I submitted just before my ex-maid left - paid few more days of FWL. :stupid: :stupid: -

I would say in your case, keep her! it's human tendency to eat a bit of snake. As long as she doesn't steal or lie, I would not want to go through the hassle of having to select and wait and then train another maid. Both sides are familiar with each other and I think that's best. New maids nowadays may not want to work long, or even at all. Best to stick with the known. My maid has been with us for 3 years, she has been doing a decent job although sometimes also try to 'eat snake' here and there....my kids who are coming to 3.5 yrs old are naturally very close to her and i must say that she can manage them quite well too, knowing their 'patterns' and such...

Kids know who their parents are and while they may be attached to a maid; unless the parents are really the super boh chup type, I don't see how/why a kid will prefer a maid over parents. My first maid was with me for 5 years. She was always around where DS1 was but never really took care of him (change nappy etc) - he was ok when she left (no tears nothing). -
Query here for employers. I have a fairly new Myanmar maid - this is my first from that country.
Does anyone know HOW they can remit money home? I don’t see the country listed on Western Union site; and certainly don’t think my maid’s family can tahan too long with her money.
