      MMM:
It was a big challenge for us in K2, we nearly vomit blood when giving him spelling. He would remember and then forget within 2 mins. He was a major problem IMO. At that point, my eldest was just in P1 and she was coping well without these classes. I told my sils that my son will definitely be a major challenge for me. He will probably come in last in class type and need to be invited for tuition.

      Hi,
I faced the same problem with my boy too now K1 going to be K2 he can remember the spelling or the words when I am showing him but after afew minutes he give me the blank stares....I am worried he has this dyslexia.... but so far he passed all his spelling (consist of 3-4 word list) in K1 šŸ˜›

Splling words have to learnt through writing, esp for 听写 or else characters wont' go into the head. My son in P4 also has to learn it the hard way.

DS1 used to have problems with spelling - cannot remember. What I did was to use rhyme method - break up the word into smaller bits of rhyme (3 to 4 letters in each breath) and make it sound like rap. It became easier and actually enjoyable to learn spelling. (sorry I can't be more descriptive)

            Hi hquek,

No worries...think I roughly know what you mean.
I break it up into 3 or 4 parts if the word is long. Now that I think of spelling, realized I've not been in touch with daughter's work since school ended...spent most of the time on older child.

I'm worried how I should spend my time next year...one will be in P5 while the other will be in P1...both equally important. Don't know how 😢 all this while I focus on my son in P4 while hubby has been attending to daughter in K2. Glanced through his P5 Science books and got a shock reading it...wonder if English or Greek.
