For Waterpolo, they test on how well you can \"catch\" the ball with one hand, must be able to tread water for at least 10 minutes and swim two laps in any style.

My DS wasn't a strong swimmer before he joined Waterpolo. He could bearly finish one lap of 50m (he was too lazy to swim, merely wanted to have fun at pool). But he was a basketball player in Pri school so he can handle the ball very well. During the trial, he struggled to meet the requirement but he still made it.

After one year of trainings, he can swim a few km in one training session. Learnt to swim butterfly (I wish I could do that too). He is still a little slow in speed compare to his peers but we are extremly happy with his progress. We think it is good for NS preparartion and we don't want him to just mugging everyday.

It is a fun CCA with the ball games, friendly matches with other schools as well as National competitions. The team spirit is high and the bond is strong. Also can build up a nice body shape. LOL
May I add that the waterpolo coach/teachers-in-charge are also on the lookout for tall boys (height advantage)? BTW, Waterpolo is ranked amongst the top of 3 tiers of EP3.

Well, my DS totally enjoyed himself over the last two days…thought he did have little complaints how the seniors were ‘abusing’ their authorities… but I think it is all for the fun of it.

Today is the last day of orientation and believe they will get to know their consortium and class arrangement…Next week, I think will still be low gear for most since there will be more talks and mini orientation I heard.

Well, to me it seems to be a rather smooth sailing week 1 in school for my DS and everyone at home. My DS2 who is now in Pri 3 AM session also managed to settle down pretty well with the morning routines.

        Good luck to everyone…

My ds enjoyed himself too especially going round trying the various sports yesterday. seems like they are identifying suitable ones to enjoy at the various sports trail.

DS seems to have few in his mind now. Just wondering, for sport must they be invitated to join first before they can put it as an option?

Can share when are the weekly practics schedule for the following sports? and any complaint so far?
          (1) canoeing
          (2) softball
          (3) Gymnas

For sports, they have to go for trial & if gd, the coach will let them know & ask if they r keen to join....so if they put it as 1st coach, chances of getting in is very high.

            I've pm u regarding canoeing.

Yesterday DS came home with hoarse voice & sunburnt cheeks, but his spirit is just as high. Think today will come home as 落汤鸡.

Yes, they can take a good rest tomorrow. Suppose there is no need to pack in any books to school on Monday? Is every Monday assembly time at 7 30am ? I seem to have read this somewhere.

I still don’t know what’s lined up for next week, only know that there is Jap class starting Thu. Maybe today he’ll come home with more info.

DS aims to reach school by or before 7 to avoid any traffic jam. I’m expecting bad traffic there coming Mon as NJC & NYGH will starts school on Mon.

NYGH already started school this week. Fortunately, every Mon, NYGH starts at 8:30am.

So gd that NYGH can avoid the crowd/sch peak hour on Mon, & can sleep late especially after the weekend break.

                        ksasalways & cascada,

Which consortium your ds going? Mine given ispark. He is mainstreamer and now feeling worried that he cannot do well.

Any ispark parent knows if they take care of mainstreamers by not rushing thru or skipping things like history which the GEPers have done it in P4-6 as social studies? Or how the school help phase in the mainstreamers? Do they stream them by English standard?
