ya.... i asked my gal same qns... all dunno:S ask if teacher teach anything? said yes further qns all dunno :S
      Did the teacher teach anything?
I am so busy asking each DS what to bring and guessing what is really needed the next day that I have no time and energy left to ask what the teachers do in the class. But I know they have meet all their teachers bec they were comparing the names of the teachers in 1E and 1H. Ha, when DS2 said his form teacher is Ms Tan, DS1 said his is Mrs Ong, my DS3 panic and said \"Dunno mine is Ms Tan or Mrs Tan.\" We certain hear alot of Dunno this week.

Btw, I just went to the PCS website to update profile. Realised that each child email address is given "a number"@poiching.edu.sg. We are suppose to overwrite this field with our actual email.

For the 1E parents, just curious whether is THAT number of yours lies between 61 to 90? Incidiently, I found that my DS1 number is bet 61 & 90 while DS2/DS3 bet 151 and 180. I am guessing that that NUMBER is our child ranked number??? If so, the so call top 90 are evenly distributed in first 3 classes is bull-shit.

I think we just let the kids enjoy their school years,

Too streeful now to paper chase … as long as they are consistent in their work. I think it should be alright.

Me also in same number range …

Do you mean those kids in 1 C will be less than 30 ?? Since 30 kids inside there,

Any input from 1C parents ??

PE attire - I heard previously that PCS intend to implement all students to wear PE attire on Wed, DS’ form teacher said start date not known yet. DS’ PE is on Mon and Tue, if they implement Wed to wear PE attire also, that means need 3 sets of PE attires to be safe. I bought 3 sets of uniforms that time instead, argh.

DS had homework last night, the small yellow booklet (think its the STELLAR programme where the teacher reads the big book to them) was completed with a list of words at the back. Have not received notification that those are spelling words but seems so based on what was heard during the talk on Day 1. There were also reading required from the chinese textbook since Wed and yesterday.

DS’ number in PCS website is indeed less than 30! Could it be that they allocated the children to various class already then assign the number by class?

I noticed DD looks pretty tired as early as around 8pm… while in K2 days, she was as alert as a bat late into10pm…activities must be packed in school…

Can’t believe now I need to come here everyday in order to get more updates… Thank you all for sharing. At least I am less blur after reading your posts.

. Hi, nonkiasu, I think you are right. Eg. 1c is from 1 to 30. But, number given is not equal to the ranking, is according to the alphabetic order of pupil name. Anyway, let the kids to enjoy the schooling is more important. Ranking to p1 pupil before starting p1 is really not making sense. To me, teacher allocation is more important than class allocation.according to vp of the school, the best teacher is in last two class. But, the teacher who in charge the assessment is in 1c. So up to you to think whether they are telling the truth to parents.

Strongly agree, it does not make sense … to grade these kids just by the literacy and comprehension test.

Anyway, I think it is fair to put the best teachers to the weaker class.

I have just spoken to one 1C parent, yes indeed they have quite a bit of school work. I had a small booklet, the stellar program. After my DS read all the words, I will tick and sign off below.

I am not sure of other homework. Later I will check.

Ya, totally agree to let kids enjoy school is most important. I still missed my generation's edu system in the 70s where we learn at school and not like now, b4 enter school. I am trying so hard to adapt to current system and learning to face the REALITY - the unfortunate that the sch do rank our children - after I asked the innocent qn of why my triplets are against the school policy of putting them in same class. For all things they told me in early dec, some doesn't seems to be happening today. Not that I choose not to believe them.
Defintely with you that teacher allocation is most important too. Thanks for your info from vp. So far, I have not asked her anything.
Finally, to share, after 4 days of lessons, we know that 1c has a lot of homework, 1e has only 1 homework and 1h has no homework at all. So, how they decide how much homework a child should have? Isn't thru ranking? Anyway, think positively, like what they preach, they progress accordingly to our children's capabilities. So, for those weaker ones, they slow down the pace which is good for the children. And for those already know so much, they can give them more chiam things to stretch their potential.
