It's not true at all that DSA sport girls from RGS needs to get 245 onwards to get in. I know of a few girls with scores of 22x and 23x who got in to RGS via DSA both last year and this year.
erm , i am a student from RGS currently and i would like to say that the DSA students from sports have to meet a certain requirement for their PSLE to get in [ i think maybe ranging from 245 onwards ] and they ain't given extra classes. They are allocated to respective classes along with the rest of people of the same DSA item with the mainstreams. RGS do leave them alone and they're coping pretty well here

I was referring only to RGS. Although I wouldn't be surprised if some schools introduce minimum scores for DSA sports if they find that the students aren't performing as hoped.

I DSA-ed donkey years ago (not by sports though) - the cut-off then was 200, regardless of what you DSA-ed by (i.e Express)
I'm thinking such a requirement wouldn't be that bad. If the schools set it, they must have some evidence to support such a change; students who don't score well very likely had difficulty coping in schoolwork subsequently. My JC DSAed sports people who were 15+ pointers in O levels - many of them either struggled to cope or got retained. Of course, there are exceptions who flourish in both but they are the minority.
I know this sounds absolutely cruel, but if the child isn't very academically inclined, it may be best not to go for an extremely academically demanding school. Not everyone thrives in that sort of environment (my brother certainly wouldn't) - I have friends who really struggled (and it wasn't due to a lack of effort, they worked VERY hard) and that somewhat marred their experience. It's really demoralizing, especially since there's a constant atmosphere of competition and pressure. (Not in a bad way for NYGH though, just enough to keep you motivated) -

Hope they R able to Pull up their Grade Academically along with their Training ....
Else Quite Demoralising to B at the Bottom of the Class Every Year ....

Quite a lot of subjects to study even in Sec 3 and 4; still need to study Hist/Geo (Humanities) and at least 2 science subjects ! How about Maths? Are there any double Maths classes? Donkey donkey yrs ago (my time), science students only do double/triple sciences and compulsory double maths ie. can "throw" away History and Geography.
How abt the grading system ? GPA grading ? Take the best 5 subjects (including Language Arts, Chinese) ?
Btw, are all NYGH students doing HCL ? ie. they only need to take 1 HCL paper ? Unlike P6 need to take normal CL and HCL papers - double effort? -

Mean Score Grade. You multiply the grade no of each subject (eg 2 for A2, 3 for B3 etc) by the weightage (heavier for certain subjects like Language Arts, HCL, typically 1 for most subjects). Add all the numbers up and divide by the number of subjects available. The best is 1.00 (ie all A1s).
You only need to do HCL. (Unlike the O level folks, who have to do O level CL in Sec 3). As long as you score A1/A2/B3 for O level HCL, you'll be exempted for H1 CL in JC.
