Serving in RC/NC for your zone is safer as some GROs do not enjoy the privileges extended to Grassroots Leader (EM & above).
Executive Member is considered as a Grassroots Leader?

We are living on Duchess Ave, within 1km of both schools. But our application for PV was rejected by Nanyang. Thinking of working for the CC now. I have a few questions:

        1. If I work for clementi CC, whether I can register my child under 2B for nanyang or raffles girls?
        2. Whether working in the WEC (women executive community) is considered as community leader? If not, what is considered? I’m very new, so that I need a lot advice.
My child was born in august of 2006.
        Thanks.

Yes, once you are EM, you are Grassroots/Community Leaders (GRL). GRL is not referring to only those in the Executive Committee of RC/NC, such as Chairman, VC, Treasurer etc.

Its too late for your child to enrol in NYPS or RGPS as the registration is next year.
You need to be observer than become EM and must at least serve 1 year as EM.
So it will be around next year July or Aug then you finish your serving at the CC.
You may enrol your gal in RGPS under P2C for balloting within 1km.
If not success, then think of other way or back up plan.
How about Bukit Timah PS as your back up?

Thanks for your comments, mummy of 3.

We are currently applying PV for raffles girls. If it fails as well, we’ll rely on phase 2C for raffles girls. In case we fail also, bukit timah primary school is our only choice since it’s the only primary school in the zone which vacancies are available beyond 2C.
Never expect enrollment for primary school is so tough in singapore.

                Hi,

I am appointed to EM in my GRC since Nov 10 till now and I'm planning to apply the P2B letter to gain entry by this year 2011 P1 registration. My question is will i still qualify for this route given that my serving is less than a year?

Can I appeal if i fail to obtain the P2B letter?

                Thanks

It's about 1/2 yr so difficult, but if you are very very active for these 6 months, you can try appealing. It'll be good if MP notices you. You got to talk to your Chairman for such exposures and introduction. Keep appearing in front of the MP during events. I still remember my Chairman always put us in front during events in 2005/6 when I first joined and I really appreciated it, MP actually remembers most of us and our names (he also remembered where I worked)!!

One final thing you may try is to volunteer your time at MPS (Meet-The-People) sessions where you will work side by side with party members and MP every week! He will definitely knows you personally and that's good enough. By helping at MPS, you need not join the party. Just a suggestion. Hope you get your P2B.

Thanks TimTim for your valuable advises. Perhaps i can consider to volunteer at the MPS session. Or maybe can i appeal to MP for my case? I read somewhere in this forum that there is a special waiver granted for special cases...

I only know 2 years back, my colleague managed to appeal successfully. She has less than a yr's service as EM but as she was very active, I encouraged her to appeal to her MP and succeeded.

When did PA introduced the mandatory service term of 1yr? Starting 2009?
