Happy Mama:

DD came home feeling very excited about tomorrow's Science lesson. They will be learning about animals and her teacher asked for a few volunteers who could bring snails to school for tomorrow's lesson... DD being a little more \"kaypoh\" volunteered...

She's now busy catching snails with my maid. She has caught 2 and is still trying to catch a few for tomorrow's lesson.

Haha! Guess the teacher's method of getting volunteers does work because it got DD more involved and hence more interested in Science. 😉 😉

snails too easy to catch....she should try catching frogs or toads.....

ha ha I recall doing dat last time. I was rummaging through the plants lookg for snails n was exhilarated wen we finally found a few.
Snails not challenging, brace yrself up for worms next! Fortunately my hubby has stocks as worms r staple food for his arawana.

          Hi Janet,

Wow, I envy you ... my son is P5 too but he is beginning to feel pai-se to hold my hand or hug me in public - sometimes must 'force' him jokingly or cajole him a bit then he gives me a quick and  one  So I 'threaten' him that if he doesn't hug or kiss mommy goodbye, then I don't walk him to wait for sch bus ..

Btw, have your son received his CL Spelling and moxie list? My son said for the whole of this yr, all his CL Spelling & moxie will be from the textbook, highlighted as per teacher's instruction. Is that the same for your son? I
thought it is ok to get the spelling list from the textbook but not the moxie list coz those are pretty basic .. Just want to know if it is the same across all P5, so I can have a word with the teacher if necessary.

          Thanks!
hi my dd's HCL teacher has d same arrangement for spelling n moxie as yrs. She told dem d spelling words wld b extracted fr eg page 1 to 8. She didn't indicate which words but told dem she wld pick randomly on d day she tests spelling. As for moxie, she asked dem to highlight a few passages to memorize.

so i presumed school will not cover anything more than 必读字 and 必写字....

If that's the case, they should give out the moxie as reference rather than ask them to memorize and write out without really knowing application and meaning right?

Actually, I think it is like reference. sometime my son just leave it blank also won't get scolded. but I think it is not the case in charity.
Mine was not in Charity last year, but any word (those not from text books are inclusive) not written or written wrongly, deduct 10 marks each. I guess it greatly depends on each teacher's practises.

Are parents allowed to tag along?
