      Hi hi Moms/Dads,

I've been a passive reader of this thread as my DD just got transfered to IJ this year. She's in P3.

It seems that my DD is still very much in her \"honeymoon\" stage. It worries me n DH cos in her former school, she would have already started her structured courses. Till now, she has yet to received her English spelling list :?

Everyday after school, ask her has she started any lessons yet? Her reply is always decorate this book and that book? Wondering if IJ wants them to settle down in school first then \"pump\" them later on? I was also formerly a IJ gal but from different IJ and its many moons ago, so the culture may be different.

      Any comments/advise appreciated.

Perhaps the school is revising the way it teaches English.

I hope your dd is enjoying herself. Your dd must be a rather good student; transfer girls are typically top students from their old schools. P3 is a good year to come in as all the girls have been allotted into different classes so they have to adjust to new classmates anyway.

Usually transfer students are top students. Congrats on your daughter's transfer...esp since you were also an IJ gal.
I'm still trying to find out what IJ culture is. What I do know is there is the English is challenging, esp after seeing the booklet given out for spelling as well as tenses/collective nouns.

Thank you for your comment. In her former school, they really stress a lot on English & Maths. So since P1, they are really \"pumped\"! The students are shuffled every year, and for P2 and P3 classes, the 2 best classes uses these 2 subjects to allocate.

Not sure whether they are revising the English system. I've not seen or heard of my dd's spelling booklet yet?? IJ using stellar system? Her former school more KS....stellar as well as Casco English textbook.

              Hi Berry,

There are 4 colours - red, blue, green and yellow. It rep diff house colour.
Which 'house' does your daughter belong ?
There will be a 'house colour' tee which the girls would have to wear for certain school activity.

              Hi Yoshitoshi,
It's a good thing for P1s to build up their foundation after the 'honeymoon'. In son's school, the students are streamed to diff classes every year using subject banding.

As for English, I know for sure P1s and P2s are using stellar program. Understand this stellar thing will extend to more levels as time goes. Which Casco Eng text did your daughter's former school use ? Sorry to be so upfront 😛 but I'm looking for a good grammar-cum-vocab reference for P1/2. Thanks.

Nope, just made another cheque payment last night for the 'Ang Pao' fund raising project last night. But that's ok since daughter will be studying there for the next 6 years.
