LKVM:
:thankyou: for sharing, LKVM. What a memorable experience for you, dh and your ds1. It's one of those things that you don't forget. Reading your post makes me reminisce of my girls 1st day of sch. :love:So finally the day had arrived 04th January 2011, 1st day of the formal schooling for my DS1.
....
So overall lovely experience and will be remembered for very long time. :celebrate:

So far I am quite impressed by how organized the school has been. Even though it's the first week, and I am sure the staff has their hands full, they are extremely prompt at answering questions.

LKVM:
2nd day of the school and my son had a homework even though very less.. to write ABC

Is it the penmanship book? Remembered that my gal's handwriting was so \"bad\" that the FT always put a little comments at the bottom of the page:\"Good effort; try writing neatly the next round.\" -
Hi, first time writing a post on KP. Just graduated last year, doing well in my sec school. Well, hi all!
-
LKVM:
I am quite surprised as well as happy with the progress of the studies after more than 2 weeks... the school has been teaching in good speed specially with Maths :celebrate:
Hi LKVM,
Glad to hear that you are happy with the school
and I am sure your darling must be enjoying himself in the school too :please:
My gal is enjoying school too and adapting herself to the new class. As now in P3 the class size is bigger - 40 as compares with 30 in P1 & P2. As ususal her 1st comment in the 1st week was: \"The class is very noisy!\" :rotflmao: BUt into the 3rd week, I guess all has been settled and she already \"getting used\" to the big noisy class.
Am very thankful that the FT & Subject teachers issued letter giving us the e-mail (Don't think that was being practised during her P1 & P2 time). Have started corresponding with them and teachers are very open to feedbacks and suggestions. It's a blessing to have dedicated teachers around that take the time to reply the e-mail or to give us a call to update the progress. I am sure it will benefit the child in the academic preparation as well as their characteristic development.
Hope that more parents of CPS will come o board to this forum to share and to encourage one another on. I believe this forum will grow with more parents sharing thier views and encouragements. Cheers :dancing: -
ExpatMom:
Oh dear expatmom,
They really did not handle the first day very well at all.
hugs to you.
Can imagine your feelings while waiting.
I remembered the 1st week of sch in 2010 too. I was heavily pregnant then. I waited anxiously with the super huge belly until I had leg cramps. I didn't dare to move to a bench which was further away, just in case while I moved away the bus came.
Did you call them, while waiting?
I had the bus co. tel no, as well as Eileen's hp no in my hp phonebook, so I called both numbers several times. The first time I called, they said the buses were still in school (I waited for 20min already) because it was a bit chaotic and some kids were not at the correct buses yet.
Next few times I called, the bus company said/ claimed that it was the school teachers who were holding the kids back so there was nothing the bus drivers could do. Apparently the teachers make sure all the kids are there before releasing them to the buses or something.
I think in the end, ds1 did arrive almost 1h late too! -

Which school are you in now?
Yes, share more info with us cos most of us have kids in the lower Pr levels. -
LKVM:
Wow, thanks LKVM!

Lovely pics! Thanks for the photos, got to see the P for the first time. Haven't seen her yet, cos this year they are suddenly very strict about entering the school so when I pick ds1 up, I can't enter the gate at all! Yup, she looks nice indeed.
Heard from my friend who teaches in the school that she is very nice to the teachers, and they are very happy.
I can't believe I missed so much on the forum.
Didn't come in for a couple of weeks cos each of the 5 of us in the family got another round of the flu. Aiyoh! Even the baby.
Sleepless nights for me cos when she has blocked nose, she cannot sleep, cannot sleep, she cries.
Fortunately everyone is better now. Can prepare for CNY now.

LKVM:
Thanks LKVM, we're all recovering.BTW any idea for eve of CNY do the school gets over early or something like that? :?
MTIA
Abt CNY eve, they have celebrations. Did you receive this school calendar that was given with the Principal's letter to parents?
It is stated there that it is till 10am. It didn't specifically say dismissal is at 10am but I assume that to be so?
Champion, regarding the form teacher's letter, yeah! Last year I did not have that, but I like it! It makes the teacher more personal and approachable. And I like what he said about discipline and that he introduced all the subject teachers too. I also got the MT email and it makes it so much easier for me to ask the MT tr things directly too!
Also, this year the MT lessons are banded already. Last year they were still mixed. I just found that out too. -

Hi tjm,
Yes, the MT is banded in P2 and it follows thru to P3. My gal is in the ζ·±εΉΏ class but seems that no difference from her other classmates in other banding class? How about your DS?
Agrees that it makes communcation much easier if we have the teachers' e-mail addresses. But my gal's has different subject teachers and I can foresee that when comes to PTM, I will be running around again same as last year lioa  She has 1) Maths & Science - Same Teacher but that teacher is a FT of P2 class; 2) EL teacher is her co-form teacher but currently on leave and is covered by a relief teacher; 3) Her FT (a CL teacher) but is not teaching any of the class??; 4) MT teacher who I always have great respect for
So again, my hubby \"reminds\" me that he will not join me this year for the PTM - as looking at the list it seems that I will be running around the school
