😢 And to add salt to the wound, we parents have to sweat 40hrs to be in phase 2B, while under phase 2A, the parents didn't even need to do
      any voluntary work.
This is life. Nothing is fair. We just to fight for our survival :celebrate:

40 hours or even 80 hours is really nothing compared to having to sweat through 6 years there decades ago on your own. at least there is a now chance to get in ahead of phase 2c. quite fair and is a good leveler....

😄 Yes I agree with verykiasu2010, with the PV system, we get a chance to go for the school we want. Afterall, in life, we have to work very hard for what we really want badly and sometimes we succeed, sometimes we don't. :imanisland:

Cannot compare between Phase 2A and 2B…bcos most if not all, parents would want to register their children in their former schools (if possible). Every parent would try to get ahead (in terms of phase)…those in 2C would want to be in 2B.

It’s not reasonable to ask the parent to do PV in their former school.

With school going single session, fewer places will be avail for phase 2B/C.

So even PV will have limited chance if we live beyond 1km. Where the level playing field when phase 2A is not even fighting the race. They are guaranteed places.
Also by giving priority under phase 2A, isn’t the primary school registration framework instrumental in creating an elitist society. Generations of the ‘privileged’ group will continue to be guaranteed places in their school of choice just by the very virtue that their parents have studied in the particular school; creating a snowball effect. And with the phase 2A taking up the places in the school, very limited places will be left for phase 2B/C; creating the ‘in’ group vs ‘out’ group. Yet we pledge democracy and equality as citizens of Singapore?

Yes, there is no level playing field…even MM has mentioned that. There is slightly more fairness at PSLE…but then again you also have affiliated sec school. Someone once told me, nobody said the world was meant to be fair. We all have to fight for our own survival.

There are always two sides of a coin.

You have your own valid arguments, but parents on the other side will have their own argument.

Just wondering, would you still comment on such inequality if your child had qualified under P2A? :scratchhead:

Some parents went through Phase 2B too. I know I did, and I'm not the only one. Some of my friends also qualified under Phase 2A but they didn't send their kids back to the schools they once studied.

under 2B, we are hit both by the places avail after 2A and also by home distance.

Children registered under phase 1 to phase 2A are guaranteed places in the school of choice yet MOE does not even care if they live near the school; why home-school proximity is MOE key criteria in determining whether phase 2B get a place. Very ironic.

Actually, it's only in Phase 1 that children are GUARANTEED places. Phase 2A is \"considered\" guaranteed because we have not witnessed demand outstripping supply so far. In the event that demand does exceed supply, applicants will still have to go through balloting.

However, if applicants in P2A need to go through balloting, it means the school will not even have subsequent phases.
