Children registered under phase 1 to phase 2A are guaranteed places in the school of choice yet MOE does not even care if they live near the school; why home-school proximity is MOE key criteria in determining whether phase 2B get a place. Very ironic.

Actually, it's only in Phase 1 that children are GUARANTEED places. Phase 2A is \"considered\" guaranteed because we have not witnessed demand outstripping supply so far. In the event that demand does exceed supply, applicants will still have to go through balloting.

However, if applicants in P2A need to go through balloting, it means the school will not even have subsequent phases.

under 2B, we are hit both by the places avail after 2A and also by home distance.

there is always the option of other less popular schools.

Just do our homework right and place our bets carefully, then the PV effort will not be wasted.

I do know of some parents who are very willing to do PV just to have a chance to ballot. Some parents even performed PV in 2 different schools in the same year.

There are parents who send their kids back their former schools...sometimes even as far as Bishan and Bukit Timah, def more than 2km. But not everyone does that, although last year's registration for Catholic High was scary.

Precisely bec those pple living far far from sch got in under 2A, 2B and 2C are deprived of places thou they live just next door.

Your kids got into the sch under 2B? Do u happen to also to live near the sch?

And if it comes a point where 2A places need ballot, then the school will be out of reach from majority…Only for the ‘elite’ group.

My son managed to get into the school under 2B...staying within 1km. Daughter is in my former school under Phase 2A.

                Just wondering :?

what's your opinion of Clan members, Grassroot leaders & religion group members being eligible in the same phase as PV parents?

                😄

Grass root leaders contribute to the community while PV to the school. Both contribute but in diff ways. Think they shd both be rewarded with phase 2B.

The parents in Phase 2A contribute in many ways to their alma mater too. Raising funds for the school, building up the school's reputation and track record, organizing/participating in alumni activities. So they are no less deserving than any other parent.

There is no absolutely fair system and I think the current system is as reasonable as it can get.

I agree there is no system that is fair to everyone. 😎

Places in 2A are effectively guaranteed. In effect, 100% of places could be taken up at phase 2A. And these students could be living beyond 2km.

2B and 2C will have no chance at all though they may live just next door.
