Btw, for parents paying cash, the kid can drop the $ in sealed envelope at the general office upon reaching sch. During enrichments conducted by external vendors, teachers are also expected to be physically in the classroom to supervise/monitor the students.


So, please don’t say that the teachers ‘shake legs’. Many of them would rather have the lesson to complete their lessons with the kids too.

If there’s good control and the trainers are good, a class of 30 can still become a very very fruitful lesson. It all depends on how the trainer manages the class. So far I’ve seen external vendors who can push the kids better than the school teachers as they are not bogged down by other demands. They simply come in and teach!

Also, I think it’s a little too exp but LW really hires quality teachers. So I’m not surprised they’ll charge a ‘premium’ for it. But schools should make it optional. Students who don’t want to join will just go to another classroom to do their work. Or arrange for it to be after school.

Parents should write in/email in to the P to voice out. Honestly, not every family can afford this type of money.

In any case, if school really pays $154K, it works out to be $256 per students (P1+P2 = 600 students). If some do not participate, will the fee adjusted upwards? We shall see.

I heard one parent told me that teacher said for those students who are not in the programme, they will just sit by the side and \"watch\". If true, that's really inconsiderate on school's part. It's during curriculum time, so those who never participate should not waste their time either, they need to be compensated.

I will watch the programme closely and assess its effectiveness. We should feedback if need be.

What happened last yr was that the cheaper speech & drama course was conducted during the lengthy assembly on Wed (while the sch teachers are having meetings), so it was left mostly to the external vendor to handle the kids. :roll:

DS' form teacher last year taught every subject except Mother Tongue, CME & Music, so she was able to give a comprehensive feedback during meet-the-parents sessions. I was hoping to meet his Chinese teacher to find out if DS was focused & participating during her class but she was bz w meeting parents of her own form class, so I didn't hv the opportunity to speak to her. So I assume no news = good news.
There r standard evaluation forms compiled in the folder on reading, show & tell etc where she ticked the relevant standardised comment tho.

Is there a co-form teacher in ur gal's class?
If u hv concerns w specific subject, then it's better to call/email them or send a note thru ur gal 4 them to call u back.

To clarify, the $154K is my calculation based on $257x600 kids. So I don't think they will increase price if opt-out is ever an option.

Moreover, DS' English teacher seems to b pushing everyone to join (ytd, she told DS & a few others who yet to pay up, to write a reminder note that deadline is today in their handbooks & signed against it) & the HOD did not dispute when I mentioned in both my email & conversation that it is too expensive an ENRICHMENT course to b made compulsory, esp when compared to the mthly school fee & annual book fee. As a matter of principle, compulsory education has to b affordable. Money doesn't grow on trees (in 3 days) either.

Perhaps the \"sit by the side & watch\" comment is to reduce the parents' resistance psychologically?

Thanks Vevey for sharing. There's no co-form teacher and her form teacher has been absent for most of this week. I actually have no major concern yet since gal seems happy in school.

The assessment schedule that my gal brought home today really stressing me out tho. Studying primary school these days really so different from our days. How to coach gal when most of the books are in school?
