All About Full-Time Maids

well said, hquek! MOM shld REALLY do something to be fair to SG employers:
1) waive maid levy
2) FDWs pay for their own loan
3) NO transfer for maids who 'suka' 'suka' ask for transfer!
Since the maids suppliers/maid agencies feel that maids in SG shld get smilar pay as in HK and Taiwan, then they also have to adhere to the same work conidtions/rule as their HK/Taiwan counterparts. Enough said.hquek:
btw, I understand from a filipino maid that in HK, there is no such thing as transfer. Once the employer don't want to engage the helper/maid, she will HAVE to leave the country. Time for SG to do that? They can well afford to fly to and fro now...may as well accumulate the mileage.

Singapore should adopt a firm stand on these FDWs now that they are getting higher pay. -
Hi everyone
I would like to seek all your opinion. I just discovered that my maid stole my handphone which i kept it in a drawer. This was since beginning of Jan-11. FYI she has only worked for me for a year. It was agreed that no handphones are allowed during her 2-year contract in SGP. She approached me for handphone in her 6th month of working for me and i told her i would consider during the 3rd year if she decided to still work for me. Being maids, they usually talk to other maids whenever she brings my children to and from school. I also discovered that she got to know some Bangladeshi workers near my area and she gave her number to these men! She also got them to help buy/top up prepaid phone cards and that day when i confronted her, there were so many incoming phone calls from these men and when i ran through the smses, there were so many exchanges of love messages and arrangment of meet ups.
Would you give her another chance or start looking around for a new maid? Appreciate all suggestions. -
If you're a full time working mother and the maid is left alone to take care of your kids, i'd be worried. She could be meeting these workers in the day when she's with your children. I've seen maids chatting with workers when they take their charges out for walks. The workers were patting the children's heads and touching them. The maid could also be tempted to sneak out at night for some action, esp as the construction site is nearby.

thanks, Janet. Am seriously thinking if we shld pen a letter to MOM regarding this matter instead of just talking among ourselves. Maybe if we can garner enough signatures, MOM may seriously consider it.
I think SG employers have suffered silently for a long time under errant maids. Itβs high time we stand together and do something. Anyone has any suggestions? -

My answer is NO. Start looking for new maid. After all, she has worked for you for 1 yr and loan all paid up already. Even if you don't send her off now. Don't ever renew. Stealing and men. Man! How can any employer tahan? Plus you did not say whether your maid needs to look after your kids or not. If kids are involved, no compromise!

Sorry but no way can you keep this maid. Firstly, stealing is a NO-NO. Secondly, love messages and meet ups. How would you know they won't be having a good time at your home. If I were you, send her home asap.I just discovered that my maid stole my handphone which i kept it in a drawer.

I would suggest if you still are holding on to the hp, take pictures of the msgs as proof. Buy her a ticket and send her back home asap once you have settled your kids' care (eg get a new maid etc). Don't give too much notice - if she come back to bite you, just show your proof why you didn't give her so much notice.Hi everyone

Once she has tasted freedom, it's unlikely she'll want to go back to her phone-less days. plus, you won't know if she's bringing men home WHEN your kids are around. Remember that martial arts instructor girl? She claims now that her maid brought men home for frolicks (in front of her) when she was young. Better not to take that risk.
Good luck! -
Dear all,
Indonesian maids' salary is now $450 a month. Read my blog and feel free to comment.
