Dunman High School (Junior High)

Yes, I have another child in DHS, year 4 tis year.
Jieting, yr child is not in DHS (or do u have another child in DHS?)JieTing:
%Distinction for 2010 O level HCL is 49%(2009 is 50.6%).
95.3% Pass for 2010.(2009 is 93.8%)
and yet u have the figure. :salute: u
last few days, i had asked my gal to ask her chinese teacher
but she always forget to ask
so the % of distinction dropped slightly this yr.
The info was from the principel Dr Foo as I hv emailed him personally.
The % of distinction dropped a bit but passing % went up a bit. -
Do Dunman High students also adopt a \"giveup\" attitude for HCL? Maybe, the school can implement a higher promotion criteria for English and HCL and maybe the result will rise to 60% distinction.

if yr second child did well in his psle, it would be nice that both siblings can be in the same school, save the prob of logistics.
btw, may i know when (mid year ??) will yr DHS’s child be taking his/her “O” level HCL. -

Haha , this’s good question…..

i think it is very natural for pupils to adopt a “care less” attitude towards HCL
since the requirement is only a pass in sec4,
and after which they need not to take HCL in yr5 and yr6.
i have just taken a quick look at my gal’s timetable, which is based on a period of 10 days.
there is no overweight on HCL lessons in DHS.
HCL occupies 7 hrs, same as LA (lang arts) while Maths takes up 8 hrs.
The new P seems to be more interested in raising the overall GPA promo criteria
(at least for end of sec2) rather than to just overly emphasize on HCL alone. -
Augmum:
But I think it is not a very good attitude. Where does it stops? If one can think in that way for HCL, one can well also think that you don't need to score full distinctions to get into the U. Basically, with this attitude, one won't put in best effort for any endeavour. the best attitude should be that one will put in best possible effort in all school work. After one goes to society, one will then put in best effort in whatever endeavour one embarks on.

So there's no minimum grade required for exemption in CL in DHS for Yr 5 & 6? Just a pass C6 will do? I thought in some of the SAP schools you need to score at least B4 otherwise you'll be required to take some form of CL in Yr 5/6.

Not sure. Thought I read it somewhere.

As long as one gets D7 for HCL, one does not need to take CL in yr5 and yr6 .
