I wonder whether this centre is suitable for the upper Pri kids as i looked through the materials, they're quite simple :? as compared to other tution centre.

Actually I have the same concern as you. My son is preschool level. When I look at his foundations & launchpad materials , I find the materials so-so. Foundations is mere colouring; nothing impressive. My son spent 6 months at foundations level, doing lotsa colouring.

Launchpad is SLIGHTLY more interesting but again nothing I would crow about (cos it's just more colouring & alphabets tracing - something he is already doing actively in his preschool). I'm hoping they do use other teaching materials during class apart from the materials I am seeing (but my son told me \"No. Just additional story-telling\" again something he is familiar with in his preschool).

So I am monitoring my son's progress closely - cos the last I want is to duplicate what he is learning in his preschool - this defeats the meaning of \"enrichment\".

          I've PMed you šŸ™‚

My son was in k2 n were in the lift-off program for 2 terms. Although he benefited from the decoding skill but i found the spelling test of 15 high frequency words every wk was taxing. He managed to get all of it correct but could not recognised it the next time he came across the same word. He also had problem in comprehending the passage he read.

When my friend recommended Creative Horizon we decided to give it a try. He is now much happier there. You may want to check out this web site

Hi...my son is in K2 this year and also attending the lift-off program (Term 1). I also find it is very taxing for him to learn 14 words every week. Sometimes he will complain. On the other hand, his kindergarten only test him 4 words every week. But this also means he need to master 18 words every week, more than his sister who is in P5 this year!!!!

I will only say that through L Central, his reading improves but of course I will also monitor his progress. I dont wish to see this program kills his interest in reading next time! 😐

Hi Hope 76, have you enrolled your child in LCentral, Tampines? I intend to enrol my son too and will be attending the free assesment and trial class next weekday. Any comments for this centre so far?

Anyone can advise what is blending words and sight words?
