My son used 'My Pals Are Here' English since P1...vocab and grammar to be tested is not obviously shown...worse for Vocab, for eg animals and their young. But at least I know what is taught in Chap 1, 2, 3 etc. For P1s now, I have no idea what she is doing in school, other than waiting for her worksheets to be returned when she is done. 😢

How often they return the worksheets? ask her to write a note in her diary every daydiary. and for english she has to tell me soon

Don't know when the worksheets will be returned...her teacher told me each time they finish a topic...wonder how long they will finish. Daughter told me she has to bring the 'Basic English Grammar' reference to school everyday. Then it shouldn't be put in the 'optional list'.

under one story heading they have to do

Reading, Vocab, Grammar, Listening, Practical activity like drama...Eg for bubble trouble they go out door to play bubble..., Spelling, Compo/Creative writing etc.etc... so they will streach it to 2weeks.

          Hi plum-cake,

Daughter's spelling is based on 'My body'...like shoulder, waist, wrist. So I got her to do vocab based on that 'theme'. This week is on 'Animals'.
As for grammar, I am reinforcing 'is, are, was, were' with her.
There is Creative Writing as well ? Ok, will have to look at timetable to see if I can schedule 1-2 pages once a week. Thanks:)

mmm Is your dd's school following stellar? cos for mine actually follows the stellar and the spelling ,creative writing everything goes according to the story book. 1st week creative writing heading is \"up up and away\" because her stellar book is something called bubble trouble.

Daughter's school is using Stellar program...emailed her FT to enquire more, and she replied me about some briefing.

Don't worry Janet, they know what to give for the spelling. the more words your kid knows will help her to write better. šŸ˜Ž

Got it šŸ˜„ . This week's spelling is on animals in the wild...on my part, I did 2 pages of Vocab with her on this topic. Something related so that she isn't fed up with having to learn spelling all the time.

I need help. What is the intonation for \"ma yi\" (ant) in the \"ma?\"

I've always thought it was the 2nd intonation but my gal's Chinese spelling stated 3rd and when I managed to do a Google search, it also stated the third. I could be wrong all these while then but if it's the third sound, wouldn't it sound a lil off? Unless it's the way it should be actually pronounced.

                    :?

I remember a hanyu pinyin rule I learnt in school - When the intonation of two words (forming a noun) are at the 3rd, the one in front will be read at 2nd intonation.

So you mean I could be most probably right? :? Or it is this known fact that makes it 50/50 correct?
