Just curious, my SIL commented that my DD3 is chubby even though sheโ€™s breastfed.

So breastfed baby are not chubby?

I BF my DD1 for 3mths, DS2 for 1 yr and currently DD3, 6mths still BFing. My DD3 might be more chubby compared with my DS2 at the same age.

My diet is very normal, balance of veg, meat, fish and carboโ€ฆ

It's genetic. Not quite much to do with diet. There are fat & skinny formula-fed babies, just as there are fat & skinny breastfed babies.

        I'm still bf'g my dd3 at 29mths. I'd bf'd dd1 for 29mths and dd2 for 38mths.

Thanks. From her tone she seemed to imply there was something amiss. Although this is my 3rd, I'm still learning.

            LKVM:
I had electric pump before for Ds1 but gave me sore nipples cause I couldnt control the speed then I bought manual during DS2 time wherein I could control the speed and stop in between.. so just stick to it.. now no need ๐Ÿ˜›

Medela's Mini Electric was and still is good for me as it gives me the
fastest let-down sensation for painless expression and also it also
has a dial-speed feature that the user can rotate according to their
comfort & required level. With the manual ones, i had to use hot
towel compress to many times before the let-down sensation
came in... and still sore around the nipples. After the skin ard
the nipples cracked a coupla times i gave it away to a friend
who gave birth a few months after me.

With Medela, i could express around 300mls within 15 to 20mins...
hence i stuck to it. With DS1, this Medela is my third. I used the
first two medela's till konk out! Overused!

I used to get that with my DD1 too SAHM_TAN.
The tone i got was extremely sarcastic. Worse cause
it came from MIL... it came from another unmarried friend
and another from a passer-by who cooed how chubby she
was then. I didn't get it either. I bf and they're that chubby..
              So what? Cheh.. :politebleah:

All my babies are bf-ed.

              DD1 till about 20mths.
              DD2 till 2.5 years old..
              DS1 now 3 weeks old..

My MIL used to say i got stale milk. ๐Ÿ˜ She said the yellow
milk in that bottle better throw, stale liao... when actually those
were the initial milk flow plus colostrum. Best part is, she bf-ed her
kids too.. I know i know.. what the fish right? :heresmyfish: She bf-ed
her youngest child till like 4 or 5 yrs old leh... doesn't that make hers even
              stale-r than mine.. Cheh..

Adoi! Express by hand very painful leh! ๐Ÿ˜ข Not to mention, it's a very
laborious process. Especially me! I have soooo much milk, it'd take
forever to express wor! Not handy for full-time working moms. ๐Ÿ˜ž

That's only your opinion. ;D And you didn't get the knack of it right? Neither did i. But my friend who's a doctor was expressing fully by hand at work. She say very fast. Not more than 10 to 15mins. eg. if expressing right side, she would balance one bottle in the crook of her left elbow while that same left hand would hold another bottle for the right side that she is expressing. She said so convenient and quick.

Yes Yes.. that's definitely my opinion after my horrible and painful experience.
I was never forgetful thereafter... scared to forget. ๐Ÿ˜ข Yup you're right, i wud
never get the knack of it boy... just thinking of it now gives me boobie cramps.

But i :salute: those who can... definitely convenient and quick... some more
save money lei... pumps dun come cheap, esp the electric ones. ๐Ÿ˜›

                  Hi buds and LKVM,

Thanks for sharing. I feel better now.

My DD1, I only breastfed for 3months, because that time my MIL helped with my confinement by cooking meals and bathing the baby. My bb cried because it took some time for my milk supply to increase. My MIL kept hovering and said baby hungry you don't have milk. I still tried. Day 2 when she was in hospital becos of jaundice, even the nurse commented why so little milk, when I tried to express for bb to drink while I go back to rest. But I still tried. I was taking the night shift too, so tired, then my DH also stepped in and say maybe your bm not enough so bb hungry kept crying. By then I was so tired and with not enough sleep and in pain from sore nipple and elsewhere, and even my DH was not supportive. So I gave in and went on partial bf, that did not help with my bm supply. When I went back to work, I still tried to express but because lack of latch on, my bm supply lasted only 3mths plus.

When my DS came along, I refused to let my MIL help and asked for a confinement lady. She became my buffer, my MIL again keep harping that I do not have enough milk but my confinement lady stand up for me. At least now 2 (me and aunty) against 2 (MIL and DH), it was a fairer battle. Glad to say I won and when the aunty left my bm supply was on track, even my DH say wow so much milk. I breastfed him till 12mths, expressing from work. Now with my DD2, it's still going strong at 6mths. I target to bf till 12mths but if she wish to continue, I will stop when she wants to stop. Being a SAHM now, it's easier, don't have to rush to express and go for lunch at the same time.

My MIL would comment got enough bm ah.......I really don't know what's up with her. I mean bb is growing. Pple have commented that she's chubby.

Good to get it off my chest.

                  :congrats: buds on your third

MIL also likes to make this kinda comment. She keeps bugging me when I wanna wean off my baby..gave me that disgusted look when I said to breastfeed until 12 mth old.

My bb is quite chubby, growing well..and she kept thinking he is not drinking milk. The other day, I corrected her that he DOES DRINK milk, my breastmilk and she said where got enough..baby must drink formula milk mah.

Lucky that I am SAHM and able to take care of my baby most of the time by myself.

Have you started storing up some bm in the freezer?

Have you thought about where to express in the office?

Is there a fridge in the office?

Are you using hand or breast pump to express bm? If using breast pump and you are going to express more than once then you will need to think, is there hot boiling water to sterilized the pumps and you might want a pair of tongs to hold the pump while you use the hot water on it. I like pigeon's, the handle is yellow the last time I bought.

                        Your bb tried bottle feeding?
