For My Gal in P5 Last Year, The First Term is Tough, Adjusting to HW Vs No HW in the First 4 yrs in PH.

Quite BLUR, esp in Maths and Sc (Sc under Mr HOD SC) ....

Being Her Normal Self, She Soon Catch Up With A Little Bit Of Mummy's Input (Note the \"LITTLE\" Part, She Does Not Want Me to Breath Down Her Neck, Just Ask Mummy When She Really in :?: Mode) ....

She Steadfast-ly Stick to Her \"NO-TuiTion\"- Hence Less HW (from Tuition) Motto ....

But Can See She Spend A Large Chunk of Her Free Time at Home on HW instead (So have to Cut Down On Gaming Time -la .... 😒 😒)

But My Expectation of Her is That She Try Not to Slide Down from Existing Class Position (Well I Don't Expect A* from Her) ....
In Fact, I Half Expected Her To Slide Slightly in Her Grade as She Has Almost Back-to-Back Commitment to CCA Everyday (Something Like Average 3 hours per day) ....

She Surprised Me. For Despite Her Numerous CCA Commitments, she Still Managed to Stay in Her Existing Class, and With Improved Class Position in SA2 .... Phew ....

So MayBe U Don't Need to Over-Do It When Your dd is Still Adjusting to the New High Volume of HW Phase Now ....

Errrrrrr .... One Thing Though, Normally PH will Set Harder than Usual Exam Q in CA1 .... A Couple of Q could even B from P6 ....

So Don't Expect Normal Results in CA1 ....
If There is Any Consolation, EveryBody Results Will Slide ....

But Concentrate on Class Positions instead (Well, At least that's What I Did) ....
U Will Definite-ly Stay Less Stressed that Way ....
          :celebrate: :celebrate:

Hi Funx, tks alot for yr advice! I agree on the less tuition rationale, as my dd did better with lesser tuition but more of my coaching. But with lesser tuition means more pressure on my side as I hv to do consistent revision and work with her in order to hv her maintain her class position 😒
Transitioning fr a FTWM to SAHM, I still do feel the desire to ensure my kids do better in all aspects, with a gd balance of fun/play blended with work.

          Yeah, Great Minds Think Alike!
Albeit I'm More Lazy than U - Remember the Emphasis on the \"LITTLE\" Part, Ha -Ha ....

[quote=\"lizhi\"]yes, the GEP prep is started in the first year. The performance of last year PSLE is seen as grandstanding, but it is really very attractive.

For PSLE 2010, they have 108 score above 260
For TLL, do not have the latest figure, but PSLE 2009, they have 275 score above 260.

  Trapwithin has made a scrutiny for both centers  ...and then how much the percentage goes to 260 above?
i fount the thread link of the topic of Mind Stretcher Learning Centre,

True, so true. Liddat where got time for piano practice, swimming and tt (oops I mean ping pong)? What about time for family bonding?

                    Quality not quantity .... :rotflmao:
Seriously, if you do teach your ds .. that can also be a good bonding time.

Talking about homework, my colleague has been complaining to me that her dds who study at a neighborhood school have lots of homework EVERYDAY. Her P4 dd’s homework yesterday: 10 pages of δΉ ε—, 2 thick stacks of Maths, 1 stack of Science worksheet and 10 over pages of English worksheet. And this happens almost every day. Even her P1 dd has tons of homework (Her home yesterday: 13 pages of ζ±‰θ―ζ‹ΌιŸ³ worksheet plus 5 pages of English worksheet ). The girls have been working till 10+ almost every night since school reopen. And she always envies me when I told her my dd has no homework (at P1 and P2).

My P4 girl also has significant more homework this year. She has been spending an avg 3-4 hours each day to do homework. At times, she works beyond 8 pm.

I have been hearing HW HW HW ... :!: really no joke.
I guess only the P1/P2 still have a bit of enjoyment.
