Anyone has reviewed YWCA in Marine Parade?


I am shortlisting them for my 2yrs old son's childcare.

My gal had attended her playgroup at this centre before she was transferred to the other centre at Bedok South. In fact, I had some unpleasant experience with this centre at Marine Parade. For the first few days, I sat in with my gal and noticed that the teacher was feeding the children their lunch hastily. I was thinking that what's the hurry then and what if the children choke with the food. And, for the next few days, I would peep through their lessons and noticed that the teachers were doing nothing. And, when they saw my existence, they pretended to sing songs or story-telling. And, worst...their HFMD cases rose to a shocking number of about 6 within 2 days and the number was rising. And, this issue was always re-occurring. Within 2 months or so, I transferred my gal to the other centre at Bedok South. What a great difference between both centres. Though there are some bad comments regarding this centre but I beg to differ. My gal likes her teachers in this centre alot and whenever my gal fails to attend her school, the teacher wld call to find out the reason. And, the number of HFMD cases is always kept under control and I'm very happy with it. And whenever i go to pick up my gal in the afternoon, she is always engaged in activities. Overall, I'm quite satisfied with them.

Feedback for YWCA bishan.

Cleanliness-Good.
Teachers-Nice, Middle-aged. They can handle the kids well, discipline is put in place, therefore kids know what is expected of them and behave well thus no need for scolding. Only when they are new then they get scolded to make sure that they won’t repeat the mistake and after that all’s well. They use the "chair" method.Principal will ensure the teachers don’t use the chair as a place for the more active kids to be isolated.
My experience: Principal walked around the center saw a kid on the chair and reminded the teacher to get him off it to explain why he was punished and then settled.
Ratio- Not too bad. 1:8 for N1 class if i m not wrong.
They learn the Basics but i sat through one of their lessons and found it nothing spectacular but not boring. I like their singing and morning "assembly" things.
Overall i think that this center has good teachers that care and love the kids like their own and i think the teachers are more important than anything else. The kids there foster good friendships. and relationship witht the teachers.

Me also have bad experience with YWCA @Bedok, The Principle unfriendly, not honor at all.

I complaint to the principle the teacher was sitting there and dreaming, never teach/take care the kids (N1). She said she will take action and she know the teacher lazy. After few week, I sent feedback to her boss, you know what she said, she said her teacher are very good and she support her teacher at all. Then what she told me just a acting lo….

And my child in the morning was okay no fever or sick. But from 9.30-11am this principle have called me 5-6 times insist me to pick up my child immediately. I have told her my husband will pick up her on 12noon. But she seem like don’t understand English, keep calling me must come and pick up my child mow, anything happen to my child they won’t take any responsible. What a principle she is?? So terrible and irresponsible!

Just wanna comment about YWCA Bedok because my husband was standing outside to observe the teacher and class when we were looking ard for preschool for our gal. My husband saw a teacher scolding a student stupid and poking the child's head with her index finger. I don't think this is a right way to teach and will only make a child feel less capable and confident.


I've got a friend who sent her son there. It was a horrible experience. Her son was only around 18 months and was placed in this YWCA childcare. For the first few days, her son kept crying since he's in a new environment. My friend went to observe her son one day when she was off work but couldnt find him and was horrified to know that her 18-month-old crying son was being shut-off in a dark room all alone. :shock:
My friend was very angry. She wanted to withdraw her son and the principal is always uncontactable.

Just sharing what I've heard and observe. Its always best to go to the school to observe urself. You wouldnt know what surprise you will see...

Yes, I agree the teacher & principle both are horrible…basically this childcare center not good at all, better don’t let your child stay at this childcare center.


not only I have bad experience with this childcare, i asking others mother they also not happy with the princple.
