      Please help me with P5 math :

      Ms Tham distributed a packet of sweets among a group of pupils.
      If she gave out 11 sweets to each pupil, the last pupil received only 6 sweets.
      If she gave out 8 sweets to each pupil, there would be 34 sweets left over.
      A. How many pupils were there?
      B. How many sweets were there?

      Thanks in advance
      By giving each pupil 3 sweets more, a total of 39 sweets (34 + 5) is required.

      a) Hence, the number to students is
      39 / 3 = 13

      b) 13 * 8 + 34 = 138

        Pls help :

        The volume of a rectangular tank is 162litters. It's length is twice its breadth and 2/3 its height. Find the length of the tank.
        Maths guru kindly help.
        Greatly appreciated
        Let breadth = b
        length = 2b
        height = 3/2 (2b) = 3b

        volume = length x breadth x height = 2b x b x 3b = 6xbxbxb = 162---->b x b x b=27 = 3x3x3----> b=3

        length = 2b =6

        HTH.

          Length --> 2 units
          Breadth --> 1 unit
          Height --> 3 units

          162 L --> 162000 cm3

          2u * 1u * 3u --> 162000
          6 * u * u * u --> 162000
          u * u * u --> 162000 / 6 =27000
          30 * 30 * 30 --> 27000

          Hence , 1 unit is 30cm.
          Length --> 2 units * 30cm = 60cm

                Let men in auditorium = 5m---> Men from s'pore = 2m
                Let women in auditorium = 4w---> women from s'pore = w

                5m+4w = 32
                2m+w = 11--->8m + 4w = 44

                from the above 2 equations, 3m = 12--> m =4

                men from s'pore = 2m = 8

                      $260 is to be divided among a certain number of people. If half of the people receive $3 each, one-eighth of the people receive $2 each and the rest $4 each, how many people are there altogether ?

                        Divide the people into 8 units (based on 1/8 of the people):
                        1/2 => 4 units (recieved $3 each) x $3 = $12u
                        1/8 => 1 unit (recieved $2 each) x $2 = $2u
                        Remaining => 8 - 4 - 1 = 3u (received $4 each) x $4 = $12u

                        Total amount of money = $260 => $12u + $2u + $12u = $26u

                        $26 u -> 260
                        $1 u -> 260/6 = 10

                        Altogether there were 8 units of people

                        8 u -> 80 people
