Champion, regarding the form teacher's letter, yeah! Last year I did not have that, but I like it! It makes the teacher more personal and approachable. And I like what he said about discipline and that he introduced all the subject teachers too. I also got the MT email and it makes it so much easier for me to ask the MT tr things directly too!
Also, this year the MT lessons are banded already. Last year they were still mixed. I just found that out too.[/quote]
Hi tjm,
Yes, the MT is banded in P2 and it follows thru to P3. My gal is in the ζ·±εΉΏ class but seems that no difference from her other classmates in other banding class? How about your DS?
Agrees that it makes communcation much easier if we have the teachers' e-mail addresses. But my gal's has different subject teachers and I can foresee that when comes to PTM, I will be running around again same as last year lioa  She has 1) Maths & Science - Same Teacher but that teacher is a FT of P2 class; 2) EL teacher is her co-form teacher but currently on leave and is covered by a relief teacher; 3) Her FT (a CL teacher) but is not teaching any of the class??; 4) MT teacher who I always have great respect for
So again, my hubby \"reminds\" me that he will not join me this year for the PTM - as looking at the list it seems that I will be running around the school

LKVM:
Oh? maybe it applies to P2 and above then? Not sure, since champion and i have. you should check with the other P1s.
I havent got any letter :!:tjm:
Abt CNY eve, they have celebrations. Did you receive this school calendar that was given with the Principal's letter to parents?
It is stated there that it is till 10am. It didn't specifically say dismissal is at 10am but I assume that to be so? -
Champion:
Oh dear! you have to run around again, really sounds like many trs!

i do have a co-form tr who doesnt teach the class but the other form tr teaches the class Eng and Math. The MT teacher is another teacher, that's it.
For MT, ya, I was told by the MT teacher that ds is in the higher ability group. But I haven't had the chance to see or compare the workload or speed of what they are taught, so can't comment yet. -
LKVM,
tdy ds brought home a letter saying they'll be dismissed at 10.30am.

tjm:

hi RJK,
My dd in P1, she gave me the letter last night.
welcome!!
LKVM,
yes, the school buses will adjust timing. if they don't inform you, you just add the time it usually takes for him to get home to 10.30am. that's when you should expect him, unless there are delays again...
champion, that means you're having a sumptious lunch! enjoy! -
Like to share with you all an experience I had this morning....
I was in the bus, on the way to market when I bumped into one of my 2nd gal's (K2) this year classmate's mummy. We started chatting and soon was on the topic about P1 registration in August. As she has only 1 child, so her pressure is equally high....Then she continued to say:\" I am considering to put Corporation Primary as the 1st choice. Reasons being that it is within walking distance from home, single session and no balloting require so far.\"
She then asked me further about the school as she knew that my DD1 is with CPS. I shared with her regarding the school curriculum, the school hours and the school activities. Then from nowhere, a lady who was standing near us joined in and said she heard a lot pple said \"CPS no good lah; no good teachers and if so good why PSLE result no show leh!\" I explained to her what I was sharing was based on what I have seen & experienced for myself thru my gal over the past 2 years. There will always be \"the grass is greener\" on the other side and I won't be able to comment for other schools since I have no children studying there.
My DD2 classmate mummy was so stunned that I can \"talk back\" to the lady
but affirmed what I said was true!
I am glad that I speak what I feel and of course, I can't speak for the whole school and I don't want to be labeled that I am \"selling\" for CPS. I merely shared the very own experiences I have gone thru so far with DD1.
DD2 is registering for P1 2012 coming Aug 2011 and she is very excited to join DD1 to take school bus, has her own pocket $$ to buy food from canteen  -

Bravo Champion! Not many parents care enough to find out more about their kid's school and share this openly with others, especially for the not-so-elite schools. Kudos to you. -

well done champion! :salute:
i also find my experiences there so far to be very pleasant.
btw, i did ask one of the senior teachers about the dwindling enrolment in the higher levels and also why the sentiment in the general population is that CPS is not a good school.
she shared that for the p5-6 (current batches) there are less classes because that was when the school just moved and many found the new location inconvenient. People around the area hadn't moved in as well, so enrolment dropped. Thus perpetuating a cycle that let others think, low enrolment must be because school is lousy.
With regards to results, she explained that cos numbers are low, the percentages can swing wildly. 1 person not getting an A in a subject can cause % to drop more if the total no. is low.
I feel that she is being quite logical too, not \"selling\" the school to me as well, so I believed her.
